Esca - Celtic meaning: River
We are considering it for either boy or girl i.e as unisex name. Thoughts??

I do like the sound of it but they will spend their whole life spelling it out and people calling them other things by mistake.

Make sure they are always on time for school so you don't get;

I like it! I actually assumed it was a boy's name, though I think it works for either.

Thank you very much everyone! Yes I do get the 'Esca-late' 'escalator' etc but I'm not too fussed about that side of things tbh..
Constant having to spell did also cross my mind - but then again isn't that the case with most 'rare' names? Hmm good points though!!

Tbh I'm not a huge fan. I love the name Esther though (or Ezra for a boy) - somehow easier on the ears to me.

Rare unisex names are a bit risky because it only takes one major film or celebrity to feminise or masculinise it and your child might end up on the wrong side of that.

I've been thinking about this name and I love it so much I may nick it if I have any more babies!

I like it a lot, for a girl or a boy. But people have thought my son has a girls' name in the past (he doesn't! It just ends in A!) so I may not be the best judge

Makes me think of French 'Est-ce que' which sounds the same and means 'Is it' !

Or a nickname for Francesca
