What do you think goes well with Poppy?

Do you hate poppy? I know there's been discussion before about whether its appropriate for an adult/whether it's a dogs name etc and I'd be interested in opinions.

We love Isla too but it's SO popular. I, in particular want nothing in the top 100 for a first name!

Poppy Elizabeth is the name that came to mind when I saw the title on active list

I'm not keen on Poppy, it's very cutesy. Ok for a little girl but not great for a grown woman. It's also quite popular (in the top 10!)

I'd pair it with a stronger middle name...

That's what I think Sophronia but DP is in love with it. I think it's cute but am struggling to imagine a successful Poppy my age lol. There's so little we agree on. Will keep brainstorming

I like Poppy. I don't see it as being any different to other "sweet" names that are popular: Lily, Daisy, Rosie, Millie, Mia, Lottie, Emmy etc. Your child will make their name their own, so while Poppy might seem cutesy objectively, it doesn't mean that your child will appear babyish as an adult.

I like Poppy. I see it with Elizabeth too.

It's a lovely name but very popular. 2 is ds's class at school.
Both get shortened to Pops which I feel is cute but not a great nn

Poppy is a great name. There are current MPs called things like Tulip, so I don't see that it would hold her back!

I agree that Poppy is too cutesy and will be a silly name for someone aged 57. It's also very popular, as is Isla.

Would you compromise with Philippa, NN Pippa?

Or Penelope with NN Penny?

Elizabeth NN Libby?

I love Poppy but wasn't brave enough to use it as a 1st name so it's one of my daughters middle names - she's Annabel Poppy. She's 2 and calls herself Poppy though!

I do think you should go for a longer more traditional middle name.

Poppy Charlotte would be my choice.

I know a very grown up academic Poppy whose formal name is actually Penelope, Poppy for short. Would that be a runner?

I have a Poppy so may be biased .

I don't see it as remotely similar to Pippa or Philippa .

My Poppy is Poppy Louisa Elizabeth.

All three of my DCs have names firmly in the top 100 & yet none of them has ever had another child with their name in their class/form at school. We loved all three names so we're prepared to take a chance on there being a few about, but it really hasn't worked out that way.

There are three little Isla's very locally though.
