Which surname is nicer?

Neither of us are particularly fussed about keeping our surname. We are married but kept our own names but will change when we register DD.

So which surname is better (we have decided we will go with the 'nicer' one) thanks :)

It just looks and sounder nicer.

Stephenson because Blackmon possibly invites kids calling him or her 'black man' as an insult and mimicking a Jamaican accent whilst doing it 'black-mon' - doesn't really make much sense and I know being called ' black man' isn't an insult but kids are weird. I like the persons suggestion about Stephenson-Black

Stephenson. A more gentile sounding name in my opinion. Also, I'm put off by the fact it's "mom" not "man" as I think people would often spell it the wrong way. (I have a last name that is always spelled wrong and it bugs me on a frequent basis so that's why it's put me off).

I'm just being honest BTW about the connotations the name makes me think about so please don't get mad at me

Blackmon is said as Blackmun, same as the 'son' sound in Stephenson.

What's your point Bert? The majority of posters so far didn't know that Blackmon was the OP's surname when they commented and gave their opinion.

What ever name you give, it's yours, everyone suits their name. My surname is always mispronounced but I like it, it's unique. I know a lot of Stephenson's, no Blackmun's.

Yes, I'm normally asked how it's spelt or sometimes get Blackman sometimes it's spelt correctly but DH often gets Stevenson.
