No to Dylan. Showing my age but that name reminds me of dopey Dylan in 1970's Magic Roundabout. Brodie is nice.

Ooh I like both. Around here Dylan is very very popular so I'd go for Brodie.

Dylan all the way. A friend called her son Brodie. I looked it up at the time and I'm pretty sure it means 'ditch'. Hmm

babyapril · 05/02/2017 05:42

Dylan. Brodie is so , so popular!
Do you like any other names?

Motherfuckers · 05/02/2017 06:24

How is Brodie so popular?? It sounds like a cross between bogey and grody, such horrible connotations.

Notagain2017 · 05/02/2017 06:28

Never heard of Brodie. Dylan for me.

Justfred · 05/02/2017 07:50

Dylan

Highalert · 05/02/2017 08:01

Maybe it's popular because not everyone thinks like you?

babyapril · 06/02/2017 17:54

Brodie is extraordinary popular in the states.
I'm hearing it here on a regular basis now.
Unfortunately, the only owners of this name ( that l know) are badly behaved.
I have a child with a name scorend on MN - but l chose it before the spelling became mutilated & another letter added! ;)

We are thinking of Brodie (or Brody) for our baby. It's a traditional Scottish name (and we are Scottish). People took the name after an area called Brodie (and there's a Castle Brodie still standing). It means either ditch or fortified wall which sounds better! I don't know a single Brodie or Brody, nor have I heard of any but it may be much more popular in other parts of the country.
Saying all that I suggested it after Chief Brody in Jaws (rather jokingly) as that's our favourite film.

I wouldn't have put Dylan on my list as we're wanting to stick with something traditionally Scottish but it's a nice name.

Go with either. Or have one as a middle name?

llangennith · 06/02/2017 23:03

Far too many Dylan's at the moment.
