We are looking for a romantic name with historical associations or a celtic/british isles connection.

Our short list at the moment is:
Rosamonde or Rosamund
Isolde ee-zold or Iseult ee-zolt (if anybody watched 'The Last Kingdom' it is pronounced like that.) we aren't sure which pronunciation is better.
Guinevere - the association may be a bit much
Kerensa (cornish name)
Elowen - another modern cornish name
Gwendolyn

Preferences? Can anyone suggest names that would fit this criteria that we might not have considered?

Middle name is Bridget as a tribute to a family member

I love Gwendolyn and Rosamund, but feel Gwendolyn would go with Bridget the best.

HenriettaH · 07/02/2017 03:05

Kerenza would be my only preference. Also like Genevieve over Guinevere.

CakeRattleandRoll · 07/02/2017 09:09

Wow, love them all!! Would probably go for Kerensa or Isolde (iz-ol-duh), but it would be a close decision.

I adore Isolde, Rosamund and Gwendolyn (Gwen is beautiful)!

NeverTwerkNaked · 07/02/2017 09:12

Rosamund sounds awful (and I hate saying that as its my best friends name)

Love Isolde and Kerensa

OpenYourEyesAndSee · 07/02/2017 12:22

I like Rosamund. I know a Rosamunde, with the e, and she's lovely, strong and intelligent, so I have very good feelings towards that name! She's the only one I've ever met.

Not sure how Kerensa is pronounced but I like the look of it.

Twoevils · 07/02/2017 12:27

I like Iseult pronounced with the 't' ending as it is closer to the original Welsh 'Esyllt'. My DD has a toy called Isotta, which is the Italian version (pointless info Wink)

Twoevils · 07/02/2017 12:28

Oh and I prefer Rosalyn to Rosalind

ChristmasSeacow · 07/02/2017 23:53

My name is on your list and I love it!

mathanxiety · 08/02/2017 21:24

Elowen is fantastic. I love Lowenna and Morwenna too.

Angharad and Tamsin/Tamzyn are my hands down favourites.

I think many of the others sound harsh - Rosamund, Isolde, Iseult for instance, maybe because to me they sound like characters from a Wagner opera.

Vivienne

LiviaBC · 10/02/2017 15:49

I think they are all beautiful names.

BagpussBee · 10/02/2017 16:02

I've always loved the name Loveday. Everyone I've told thinks I'm mad but it's such a pretty name.

donkey86 · 10/02/2017 16:13

I like Rosamund best of those - it's on my own list.

FineLookingHighHorse · 11/02/2017 12:29

Gwendolyn.

She doesnt have to be Gwen.
She could be a Dolly or a Wendy or a Lyndy. 😊

yellowbirdie · 11/02/2017 21:05

Rosamund is beautiful.
