Lynn or Sky?

It will be Lynn or Sky (we don't like the extra unnecessary 'e' on either name).

Thanks!

Blimey, where have you been??

SpongebobRoundPants · 28/01/2017 15:02

I like Skylar shortened to skySmile

tobecontinued2000 · 28/01/2017 15:02

I prefer Lyn/Lynn/Lynne

pilates · 28/01/2017 15:09

Two very different names
Sky - hippy
Lynn - old fashioned 60's name

zen1 · 28/01/2017 15:12

I like Sky. As with pp, I think of Lynn as a mid-century name.

reuset · 28/01/2017 15:16

Sky - pseudo hippy. Skye, the more popular choice, slightly better. Not keen on either, though.

Lynn - ok, but bear in mind on the dated side at present.

GruochMacAlpin · 28/01/2017 15:42

I prefer Lynn.

I'd like Sky better if it was called Skye like the island. Sky is a bit like calling her Water or Sea. (sorry)

PotatoWaffleCob · 28/01/2017 15:47

The "e" on Skye isn't unnecessary. Use Sky or Skye but maybe educate yourself on British geography because your OP was rude.

Regardless, Lynn is lovely and underused.

Sky

Meffy · 28/01/2017 16:10

.... what duckfart said....

Sapphireshadow · 28/01/2017 17:25

I really like Sky.

ExcitedMamaToBe · 28/01/2017 17:26

Sky is lovely Smile

llhj · 28/01/2017 17:29

Sky and Skylar are a bit try hard like Harper etc. And yes a bit common. Lynn is unusual in this day and age but if they rattle your cage go for either.

lizzieoak · 28/01/2017 17:33

I prefer the geographic spelling of Skye, though if I was going Scottish island I'd go Iona.

Lynn isn't a bad name, for me though there hasn't been enough time for it to come back. Sort of a sister to Debbie or Kathy & I'm not quite ready for them either - just as my mum would have seen Alfred or Violet as dated (but I love those).

AllTheLight · 28/01/2017 17:35

I like them both Smile

Cyclingandriding2016 · 28/01/2017 17:36

I like Lynn if you want a 'proper' name that's not a popular one.

Sky(e) is a bit 'of the moment' for me and might date badly

Forgetmenotblue · 28/01/2017 17:36

Lynn is gorgeous and due a revival. Also Linnet is nice and unusual. Or even Llinos which is Welsh, I think.

I'm a primary school teacher (25+years) and I've never had a Lynn yet. Many Skys.

Peregrina · 28/01/2017 17:45

Llinos is Welsh, but please don't use it in England unless you can pronounce the Ll sound.

llhj · 28/01/2017 17:47

Linnet is gorgeous imo. So pretty but not with the ubiquitous ee sound at the end of modern girl's name.

AllTheLight · 28/01/2017 18:09

Oh yes I love Linnet

BlackbirdSingsInTheDeadOfNight · 28/01/2017 18:29

Llinos is Welsh, but please don't use it in England unless you can pronounce the Ll sound.

Absolutely yes ^. I am English but went to university in Wales. One of the ladies who cleaned our halls of residence was called Llinos. We oh-so-hilarious English students found it most amusing that the cleaner was called Cleanos. It makes me feel rather embarrassed now, poor lady, and very aware of blundering English pronunciations!

I think Lyn is rather pretty actually (prefer the one 'n' for some reason). And Skye rather than Sky.

LALALALALAND · 28/01/2017 18:31

boy or girl?

Both are unisex names.

The only female lynnes that I know are over 60.

Reality16 · 28/01/2017 18:39

I'm in my 40's and the majority of lynnes that I know are at least ten years older. It's really dated and not even pretty. Sky is an ice name although becoming more popular, but definitely spelt Skye

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/01/2017 18:51

Definitely Sky.
