Do you think the names Margot or Cecelia go with Archer? Looking for little sister names!

I quite like archer and Margot

JaxingJump · 19/01/2017 00:06

Perfectly well.

SpeakNoWords · 19/01/2017 00:09

They don't go together for me. Margot and Cecilia both have older origins and are French/Latin. Archer is one of the modern occupation-surname used as a forename type names, with Anglo-Saxon roots. I don't dislike them, but they don't gel together with Archer, imo.

Having said that, I think Margot goes a bit better than Cecilia.

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 19/01/2017 03:44

Bit confused, and definitely being a bit dim:
do you mean Archer's your surname and you're asking if either Margot or Cecilia suit it (no middle name, or when she's only needing to use Margot Archer/ Cecilia Archer...i.e. at school).

Or that Archer would be her middle name?

I love Cecilia in any case (and NN "Cece" or "Cici", both pronounced CeeCee, sound cute).

If I'm honest, Archer as an actual girl's name doesn't appeal to me hugely...fine as a surname, though!

TheLadyWithTheYellowHat · 19/01/2017 03:53

Marilyn... I think the big brother is archer.

Op I think they do go together, cecelia is beautiful!

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 19/01/2017 03:54

Oh God, really am being dim! (Blame sleep deprivation).

Just realised (I think) that you mean Archer's her older sibling (DS?), and little sister's to be either Margot or Cecilia? In which case, see above; I love Cecilia. Archer and Cecilia go nicely together, IMO.

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 19/01/2017 03:57

X Post. Thanks for clarifying that, Lady...I got there in the end Grin

SoTiredSoWorried · 19/01/2017 04:07

I like Margot

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 19/01/2017 04:08

OP,

Last post, promise...

Cecelia with an e rather than i also gives the option of NN Celia, of course; out of curiosity, is that why you prefer it? I've not come across that spelling before.

Cami12 · 19/01/2017 05:27

Marilyn yes Archer is the older brother - sorry not clear! If we go down the Cecelia route then we need to decide which spelling to use, I've seen both options and can't decide. I like CeCe and Celia from Cecelia, but I like Cecilia too. That's a whole other postSmile. I think we're veering toward Margot right now, but it changes every day.

I prefer Cecelia (spelled like that, ideally) because I adore the nn Celia.

Not loving the '-go' part of Margot.

I think they both go perfectly well with Archer.

Grufallosfriend · 19/01/2017 08:57

I also prefer Cecilia.

I don't like the non French Mar-gott pronunciation

Stonewash · 19/01/2017 09:58

I think Cecilia goes best.

MiniMaxi · 19/01/2017 10:11

I like Margot & Archer

Barefootcontessa84 · 19/01/2017 11:01

I think they go together. Archer is not a modern name - my great-grandfather was Archer, born in 1886.

Barefootcontessa84 · 19/01/2017 11:02

Also like Cecilia best out of the two- to me, Margot is a bit 'of the moment' - Cecilia is an underused classic and has a different sound altogether from Archer.

Izzyathome · 20/01/2017 05:31

I really like Margot and Archer together. As pp said they're both quite vintage. We have also considered both of these girls names. I slightly prefer the spelling Cecelia over Cecilia. Either name would be great.

lovelearning · 20/01/2017 05:52

Archer and Margot. Margaret on the birth certificate.

Thatsnotmybabyname · 20/01/2017 07:01

Yes, both go beautifully.

buttercup54321 · 21/01/2017 00:13

Marigold

Carnabyqueen · 21/01/2017 09:58

Both seem a bit try hard.

Mclaren37 · 22/01/2017 05:26

I love Archer. I think either names works well.

Joeybee · 22/01/2017 23:21

I think Cecilia and Archer go better. But both names to me are brilliant, they have been on my list for a long time!

BroadcastHouse · 16/02/2017 08:05

They sound like characters out of a 1930's American novel.. Fitzgerald or HemingwayGrin. Particularly Margot and Archer!

Jooni · 16/02/2017 08:20

Both are lovely and sound fine with Archer. I'd lean towards Margot too I think - cool but chic Smile
