I can't tell if it's pregnancy hormones, or if it's a nice name! Thanks Smile

It's fine as a nickname for Richard. Smile

But I don't like it on its own.

Izzyathome · 11/01/2017 04:03

Incomplete on its own and I can't say I'm that keen on Richard. Feels dated. It may just be too reminiscent of my father in law :)

Aquamarine1029 · 11/01/2017 04:12

No way for a given name. It sounds pompous and silly.

whirliebird · 11/01/2017 07:16

I know a lovely little boy called Richie. I like it! X

Ladymoods · 11/01/2017 07:19

Makes me think of Rik Mayall's character in Bottom.

nooka · 11/01/2017 07:46

I had a mate known as Ritchie Rich, but he was actually Richard and only called Ritchie to irritate him really Grin. Richie is fine for a little boy, but needs to be Richard IMO. I actually really like Richard (I know a few Ricks too now, seems to be the shortening of choice for most adult Richards).

Richard is due a comeback! Wouldn't personally go for Richie on bc

Staranise123 · 11/01/2017 09:39

Richard is lovely.

But Richy said isn't imo. I'd let nicknames evolve naturally

Rinmybell · 11/01/2017 10:48

Err, no. Also people suggesting Richard for a tiny gorgeous baby is offensive!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/01/2017 10:50

My nephew is Richard nn Richie. Its a nice name.

RaingodsWithZippos · 11/01/2017 10:54

DH is a Richard, nn Rich. He isn't keen on Richie as a nn as it sounds overly twee. He is never Rick either, or Dick (only his mother was allowed to call him that). I quite like the name Richard, it's substantial and passes the binman or banker test.

Dolwar · 11/01/2017 11:58

Awful. Just don't.

Dolwar · 11/01/2017 12:00

Richard is fine btw.

I'm not sure why people get so hung up on nicknames. In my experience kids choose their own and get called what THEY want to be called. My parents called my sister Judith and never shortened it as they hated Judy/Jude....which is what she goes by and is called by all of her friends by choice.

Pallisers · 11/01/2017 12:12

I'd think Richie Rich. Which is also what I think whenever I see a photo of Donald Trump Jr or Eric Trump.

DramaAlpaca · 11/01/2017 12:28

Fine as a nickname for Richard.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/01/2017 12:57

Nick name for Richard.

Stephens17 · 11/01/2017 13:02

Yes, BC name would be Richard.

Richard is a lovely name Stephens, with Richie as a nick name, definitely use it. 😄

EmmaWoodlouse · 13/01/2017 20:55

I love Richard and prefer Rich or Richie as a short from rather than Dick or Rick. (Not just because of the "dick" connotations of Dick, the versions with "ch" just sound softer and nicer to me.) So I say go for it.

GingerLDN · 14/01/2017 01:48

I dislike Richard but Richie is nice

CakesRUs · 14/01/2017 01:59

Not keen myself. Shane Ritchie popped into my head. Richard is nicer.
