Thoughts please on this name. I've just come across it and thought it was rather nice. Unusual but easy to say/spell?

For a girl? How do you say it? Is it roona or runner?

I don't like it - "rue".

Nishky · 07/01/2017 15:17

It's lovely. Means Mighty Strength apparently.

Loyly · 07/01/2017 15:18

I don't like it either.

It means secret/flowing.
I assumed it was pronounced 'Roo-na'?
It's Norwegian so I appreciate its not to everyone's taste. I just thought it was a nice name for a girl. X

I know two Norwegian people called Rune (pronounced Runa). They're both men.

whirliebird · 07/01/2017 15:27

Yes, Rune is the male equivalent :-)

I sort of like it, but it's going to get auto-corrected to Luna a lot

TinyTyrants · 07/01/2017 15:44

I have a Luna, we met a Runa whilst out one day. It's a bit of a strange one. You'll forever be correcting people/spelling it.

fuzzywuzzy · 07/01/2017 15:46

I like it, I used to know a girl at school with that name she was an absolute sweetheart. So I associate it with a lovely old school friend.

1horatio · 07/01/2017 17:06

I quite like it. There are other 'unusual' Nordic names I prefer, but it's really nice :)!!

Saralyn · 07/01/2017 17:36

Yes, it is pronounced Roo-nah, but with a "rolling" R (roughly like Scottish people pronounce the r)

Rune is pronounced differently, but it is difficult for English speakers to hear the difference (for Norwegians there is a clear difference).

Runa is a quite rare name in Norway, the male equivalent is more common.

bloodymaria · 07/01/2017 17:40

I really like it, never heard it before but it's nice.

Sophronia · 07/01/2017 20:27

I like it!

Tescotwister · 08/01/2017 21:20

I really like it.

DramaAlpaca · 09/01/2017 00:06

It's nice.

holidaysaregreat · 09/01/2017 00:14

Grew up next door to a Runa and she is Indian Hindu.

celeryeater · 09/01/2017 00:16

I think it's lovely

UserOne · 09/01/2017 01:00

I quite like it. Different in a good way.

UserOne · 09/01/2017 01:01

And pronunciation seemed obvious to me from the spelling.

doublerainbow31 · 09/01/2017 01:07

beautiful unique name x

Jooni · 09/01/2017 22:00

I know a little Runa and I think it's lovely. Unusual but perfectly sensible and intuitive.
