Just that really: what do you think of Roxane (this is my preferred spelling)?

We've already tentatively picked Astrid for DC2 due in June, but I'm wondering about this as a middle...

Astrid Roxane - yay or nay?

I think it's beautiful! You should go for it because ..

  1. Younger people (under 30) won't really know the Police song, certainly not kids her age
  2. It has a beautiful meaning ('little star' in Persian)
  3. You can nickname her Roxy!

Roxane was the wife of Alexander the Great so a cool historical association too. I first came across the name in Mary Renault's novels about Alexander and she spells it like that (with one n) so I assume it's correct.

according to behind the name it means bright or dawn and one n was the original spelling i like it and have never heard of the song but maybe thats because i dont pay attention to popular music or maybe its because of my age im 28 dont know why everyone on baby name forums has to hate on a spelling they arent used to its not like your adding three xs or something extreme legit alternative spellings have existed for years such as stephen steven macy macie macey stewart stuart etc ect i think both names you choose are great
sorry for any grammer or spelling mistakes i have a brain injury and make mistakes all the time

The song itself wouldn't bother me but I hate that plaintive squawk that Sting uses when singing Roxanne.

Everything Sting does annoys me though! 😂

As it's a middle name, I don't think the Police song is a problem. It'll be even less of a problem by the time the OP's daughter grows up.

I don't like it. It's a bit 80s sounding to me. But as a middle name it's fine because nobody much cares about middle names anyway.
