Frances or Joanna

Hi, dd's name will be one of these. Possibly with the other as a middle name. Which would you go with?

My friend is Joanna Francis! ooops may have just outed myself. Sorry. Back to feeding Nancy. Daisy and Nancy. Lovely!

Joanna. Never liked Frances. I know too many Frans and it's just not a nice name.

I love Frances.

I really like them both equally, but Joanna Frances is lovely.

Joanna - but like MrsW I'm biased. Joanna Frances is lovely.

Frances feels more fashionable, Joanna feels like it's yet to be rediscovered.

I really like both, but I'd probably go with Frances because I really love Frankie and am underwhelmed by Jo.

Frances reminds me of an old woman so if I had to choose It would be Joanna.

Neither but if I'm swaying towards Joanna because I have Frances as a middle name and dislike it. It gets shortened to Fran too which is bad as sounds like flan and it just reminds me of a minge.... And no one wants a name with minge associations.

Also some male friends nicknamed me Franklin because of it and I have Frances as a middle name not even a first name!!

Woolly I always tell my Jo that she's like Cher or Madonna, she doesn't need a surname. And anyway, just because a name isn't currently popular doesn't mean you shouldn't be the one to start the resurgence!
