Rory?

I've been struggling for names ever since finding out we were having a boy. I wanted something fairly old fashioned but rarely used, had seriously thought about Robin and Laurie, however still had a feeling that they weren't quite right.

Anyway a couple of days ago Rory came to me. I feel differently about this name, I really think it is the one! However I was quite shocked that it makes the top 100 boys names as I only know of a couple, one about 4 and one about 8.

What do you think? And what middle names go with it?

I like it. My dc are teens and we know a few. Don't know how many in the younger age groups.

Middle name which doesn't end in a 'y'. Edward? William?

Lovely name. Like you say, it's not that common these days but still familiar. One of the few Gaelic names where I prefer the anglicised version to Ruaridh.

I've just been on the national office of statistics website just to see what being number 74 on the list equates to, it's just over 900 babies born in 2015. Compared to over 6000 Olivers that isn't many at all! My other two children have slightly more popular names!

I just think it's a great name that sounds cute when they are little but also sounds strong and manly too for when he is grown up!

I have a 5 year old one! It's a great name - uncommon but not unusual.

Mine is Rory Francis

It's a lovely name. I'm in Scotland where it's quite popular but maybe less so in rest of UK. I do prefer the Gaelic spelling mind you but that's the spelling I see more here.

Lovely name. Anything could go with it really, but agree not another name ending in y.

I have a Rory Patrick

I have a two year old Rory Sebastian. Hadn't heard of it at all really when we can't up with it then that same Summer I heard about Rory Mcilroy(sp?) The golfer, but no others. Didn't even realise it was on the popular list.

Rory James was the only one I could come up with, sounds the best I think but will keep playing around with others ☺ thanks everyone, I feel like a weight has been lifted, I've been so stressed because of having no name yet!
