Brodie or Finn?

I've seen Brodie on here (quite a few times) and have fallen in love. However, why is it Brodie? Brody is more popular. Brodie seems to be used for girls, so why is Brodie preferred on here?

Or Finn Smile

I don't like Brody or Brodie, for either sex. It's very American and surnamey and just reminds me of the character from Homeland.

I prefer Finn. Smile

Floggingmolly · 10/12/2016 19:30

I don't like either, sorry.

MollieF · 10/12/2016 19:34

You don't need to like them, I just needed the one you preferred Smile

I like Brodie reminds need homelsnd though,
Finn is a bit wet

Pluto30 · 10/12/2016 19:44

Prefer the spelling Brody if that's the name you choose. That's the spelling I'm familiar with. I've only seen Brodie as a surname.

I prefer Finn, though.

Sophronia · 10/12/2016 20:19

I think Brodie is the original spelling? Not sure.

Anyway, I prefer Finn.

CormoranStrike · 10/12/2016 20:46

Both are lovey, I marginally prefer Brodie.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 10/12/2016 20:49

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/12/2016 22:10

Finn. Brodie is horrible

TenThousandSpoons · 10/12/2016 22:14

Prefer Finn.
Brody better spelling than Brodie for a boy - think Brodie is more feminine

Heatherbell1978 · 11/12/2016 20:05

Ooh they were both my top 2 if this baby was a boy (she's a girl). We decided on Finn. But third option was Corey (if you like Brodie). I would definitely spell Brodie, I'm Scottish and that's the traditional spelling and the one I see here.

HoratioNightboy · 11/12/2016 20:26

In Scotland where the name originates, Brody is a rare variant spelling. Only 14 surnames spelt Brody in the last 100 years compared to 5,000 Brodies.

It's a lot more common as a forename spelling but still a lot less popular than Brodie.

It's a great name though, and much prefer it to Finn.

Glitterspy · 11/12/2016 20:40

Brodie has more oomph than Finn

KlingybunFistelvase · 11/12/2016 20:51

Brodie

SirChenjin · 11/12/2016 20:52

Brodie by miles - a good Scottish name Smile. Finn has become over-used I think.

BigMamaFratelli · 11/12/2016 22:14

Love Brodie.

Finn has become very common these days.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 11/12/2016 22:25

Brodie ( Ie is the feminine ending). Smile

I know a beautiful 20 year old one and I love her name!

IHeartKingThistle · 11/12/2016 22:27

I love the way Brodie sounds. It's such a good name.

123MothergotafleA · 11/12/2016 22:28

Neither.Get a real name.

redspottydress · 11/12/2016 22:30

123 that is not a helpful response.

mistermagpie · 11/12/2016 22:36

Finn, although the world is awash with them. Brodie just sounds like a dogs name to me.

SirChenjin · 12/12/2016 15:08

Raven not it's not - the ie ending is the traditional Scottish spelling of a traditional Scottish name derived from the lands of Brodie up in Moray. It's usually given to males (53rd most common boys name in 2012) Smile
