Help bridging the gap between my list and DH's...

Baby 2 is due any day and same as last time, it's the girls names we're struggling with! If it were up to me, she'd be Vivienne but DH isn't a fan and I think I've run out of time to convince him! We both love Juliet but can't use as too similar. Names like Emily/Cecily sound weird with our surname!

Other names I like:
Evelyn
Alice (his favourite of my list)
Madeleine
Marianne
Camilla (but put off by HRH)
Xanthe (absolute no from DH)

DH likes:
Poppy (I used to like but I'm put off by the popularity)
Zoe (I'm not particularly keen)
Chloe (I'm not keen)

Any opinions/further suggestions? What might work as compromise names between our two lists?

Love Vivienne. If I'd had a second daughter, I would have seriously been torn between Vivienne and Genevieve.

Will you say the name of your first child?

Have you got the same kind of girl shortlist as last time?

EvenTheWind · 08/12/2016 19:25

Alyssa?

Zara was the first one that came to mind. Or Clara? Lara?

Maybe a longer, vintagey formal name with a sweet -ie ending nickname would suit both of you:

Josephine called Josie or Posy
Cecilia or Cecily called Cece
Vivienne could be Vivi?
Beatrice - Bea

Or maybe a shorter, -ie name but one which feels more old-fashioned:

Marnie
Kitty
Hettie
Edie
Polly
Sadie

Thank you! There are some lovely names here though sadly quite a few of them were already vetoed from my long list by DH. A few people have suggested Phoebe and weirdly, despite liking Zoe and Chloe, he's not a fan-it seems similar to me with the 'oe' and I prefer it!

DS is Edward known as Teddy at the moment, though I expect he'll become an Ed/Eddie as he gets older. Our boy name was decided before he was born last time but we never really got very far with the girls list and in the end it didn't matter!

What about Camille.... pronounced ca-mee in french.

ElizabethHoney · 09/12/2016 02:03

Poppea - like Poppy but less common?

Manumission · 09/12/2016 02:04

Could you find the compromise in the formal name/diminutive split IYSWIM?

Margaret or Mary known as Molly?
Marguerite known as Daisy?

That kind of thing?

OlennasWimple · 09/12/2016 02:37

I like Alice! Or Alicia, if you want something a bit longer / European

Handsupbabyhandsup · 09/12/2016 03:00

Cassandra?

I've got three girls and all of their names are in your list!
