Thanks you very much.

Very appreciative.

Tai!

Sophronia · 08/12/2016 05:54

Tai

Tai

SpecialFlowSnake · 08/12/2016 06:07

Give us a clue on pronunciation please? I'm assuming like the drink Mai Tai but stuck on Hao. Hay-oh like chaos? I thought I had the Chrome extension to do the phonetic alphabet but now can't work it out

HollyBollyBooBoo · 08/12/2016 06:09

I don't like either if I'm allowed to be honest?

SausageSoda · 08/12/2016 09:11

Is Hao pronounced Ho/Hoe? If so, then no.

TeshiB · 08/12/2016 09:16

Tai

Cherryskypie · 08/12/2016 09:21

Is Hao pronounced like how?

Mybeautifullife1 · 08/12/2016 09:27

Your child will spend their entire life having to correct people's pronunciation and spelling of his name.

Not a fan of either.

HoratioNightboy · 08/12/2016 09:28

I'm reading Hao like two syllables: Ha-oh, in which case I like it. But I think we need more clues - what language, boy or girl, pronunciation etc.

HaoOrTai · 08/12/2016 09:35

Yes, but if you don't like Chinese names you probably won't like either, of course can be honest, but you may only like a couple of Chinese names and it needs to be Chinese and we like these 2 :)

Yes sounds kind like How but only slightly different

Were these looked up for you as likely to be suitably auspicious for the EDD?

I'm assuming hao as is good, but which tai?

On info given, I'd probably go for Tai, but it does depend a bit in which one

ChewedUpRope · 08/12/2016 09:42

Hao is too much like how, so Tai by default.

Cherryskypie · 08/12/2016 09:43

I prefer Hao but sounding like how could get annoying for your DC.

EssentialHummus · 08/12/2016 09:45

Tai

welshweasel · 08/12/2016 09:48

Tai is lovely and no issues with pronounciation. Yes, you're going to have to spell it the first time for a lot of people but after that I'm sure everyone will get it right. Hao is less obvious for most English folk and will inevitably be spelt how a lot of the time .

Fibbertigibbet · 08/12/2016 10:18

I think both are lovely names, but Tai is easier to pronounce for non-Chinese people.

MilkybarMars · 08/12/2016 10:47

Tai is a great name (not biased or anything!)... I have a Tai who is 11 now and never had anything bad said about it from peers yet! There is a Tiger, Cai and Kai in his class so Tai is not classed as unusual! I don't know where you live but we live in a little village in England so if it passes that test, it passes most tests! DontKnowHowToHelpThem · 08/12/2016 10:48

I know a sibling set from DD's school - a Hao and a Tao!

I prefer Tai.

atticusclaw2 · 08/12/2016 10:49

I'm afraid that in DS1s school there is a fair amount of teasing around the name Hao. Shouldn't be, but there is.
