We have absolutely decided on Jonny/Johnny, so we are not looking for opinions on that Smile just need to know the better spelling!

Johnny rather than Jonny if that's the name you'll be putting on the BC.

I'll bite my tongue and refrain from saying that I think you should go for John on BC with Johnny as a nn Grin

reindeerbitesback · 06/12/2016 19:26

Johnny!

Quercus3 · 06/12/2016 19:26

Johnny :)

Pluto30 · 06/12/2016 19:30

Johnny, definitely. Smile

Hushabyelullaby · 06/12/2016 19:32

Johnny

NannyR · 06/12/2016 19:34

Johnny - jonny seems like it should be short for Jonathan. Personally I would register as John, although it's no different to Harry or Alfie and plenty of parents put those names on the birth certificate without a 'proper' name.

user1481048199 · 06/12/2016 19:41

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist Grin it's going to be Johnny/Jonny on BC, that isn't changing Smile seems like Johnny is the winner! I prefer Johnny, but was watching a TV show and there was a Jonny, so I was like "oh"

Johnny definitely. But I still can't resist. John on birth certificate. He'll find lots of people assume he's called John when he's older too

user1481048199 · 06/12/2016 19:48

Oh well, there are lots of Tommys, Teddys, Jakes, Ollies, Lukes, etc. that will probably all be assumed, but it's a simple 'nope, I'm just Johnny' it's decided, so it doesn't matter how many people say it!

Johnny. Definitely. Jonny if short for Jonathan.

Sophronia · 06/12/2016 21:08

Johnny

Gruffalosfriend · 07/12/2016 22:09

I thought Johhny was a condom Blush

FATEdestiny · 07/12/2016 22:16

Jonty

raviolidreaming · 08/12/2016 03:33

There's likely a thread somewhere about John with 'put Jonathan on the birth certificate' as the general consensus!

LarrytheCucumber · 08/12/2016 06:16

We have a Jonny, but it is short for Jonathan, so the h would be superfluous.

harrietm87 · 08/12/2016 10:40

johnny! He'll probably get called John for short...

GinevraPotter · 08/12/2016 13:13

Johnny

Johnny Smile

Ontopofthesunset · 08/12/2016 22:37

There wouldn't be a thread saying put Jonathan for John on the birth certificate as John and Jonathan are two separate, established names. Jon is usually short for Jonathan, however.

LarrytheCucumber · 09/12/2016 05:58

But people often spell Jonathan with an extra h. We have had Johnathan, Johnathon, and Jonathon when we thought choosing the Biblical spelling, Jonathan, would make it easy.

SorenaJ · 09/12/2016 09:25

I prefer the Johnny spelling

SittingDrinkingTea · 09/12/2016 09:30

Johnny looks better I think. I assume you're having a boy, but if I was a braver soul i would have called DD Johnny like the girl in the Waterboys song. I'm not sure how that would go down on here though Grin
