Charlotte is lovely

Charlotte

Charlotte - its popularity would put me off, but is much nicer than Violet.

ToDuk · 06/12/2016 04:15

Violet always reminds me of Violet Beauregard but Charlotte is so common now. Two in my daughter's class.

GeekyWombat · 06/12/2016 04:20

I love both, Charlotte would have been on our list if we hadn't already got a child in the family with that name.

Violet was on my list, but every time we discussed via text / email DH typoed it as Violent so it ended up being a no...

Charlotte

Violet.

Based purely on the popularity of Charlotte.

KoalaDownUnder · 06/12/2016 06:04

Violet.

Bit bored of Charlotte.

Charlotte.

Gruffalosfriend · 06/12/2016 07:05

Charlotte is nicer. I'd probably choose another name as Charlotte is becoming too popular

SorenaJ · 06/12/2016 07:10

Charlotte

CharliePurple · 06/12/2016 07:12

Violet, it's lovely. Charlotte is very, very popular.

SorenaJ · 06/12/2016 07:19

Charlotte's hardly popular. In 2015, Charlotte's given to 0.574 % of baby girls, which means that on average, statistically, in an average sized primary school of 250, you're only likely to find one Charlotte in the whole school. If that. You might need two average sized primary schools to find a girl named Charlotte.

CockneyViv · 06/12/2016 08:02

I'm pretty sure Charlotte is going down in popularity and Violet is increasing, that said Charlotte is well above Violet in the ONS tables asof2015.

Imo Violet is much nicer (it's my dd's Mn and would be her first name if DP had agreed).

I think they must all be in our neck of the woods then! Average sized primary school, two form entry and there are two Charlottes in my daughter's class but I can count at least 3 more that I know of in the school. We clearly live in a very Charlottey area!

RebelandaStunner · 06/12/2016 11:21

Charlotte.
Also like Lotta and Lottie as names/nicknames.

jobrum · 06/12/2016 11:24

Violet. But I'm biased! Smile

CharliePurple · 06/12/2016 14:33

I know lots of future Charlottes, about five pregnant with girls friends are using Charlotte and there are three living near us too.

roseteapot101 · 06/12/2016 14:46

Charlotte

Cosmicglitterpug · 06/12/2016 14:50

Violet

Dontrocktheboat · 06/12/2016 14:50

I prefer Violet, although I think it might be at risk of a sudden popularity rise, whereas Charlotte is consistently quite popular.

Nonameyet1 · 06/12/2016 20:11

Both lovely names. Charlotte is a good classic name and Violet is more unusual... in a good way, so it depends what you are after.

I'd go for Violet personally.

JunebabyT · 06/12/2016 22:21

Charlotte
