Dino (dee-no) for short.

Opinions?

Are you Spanish/Latin American? Even if you are, if you live in the UK it's a bit of a mouthful. Not convinced.
And if you aren't - no.

SuperManStoleMyPants · 03/12/2016 21:22

Portuguese husband, live in London. Trust me there are more mouthful names than not, wouldn't be a problem.

Other option could be Davi.

How on earth is Dionisio or Dino a mouthful? Hmm
Obviously a foreign name. But Brits seem to struggle with foreign names and foreign languages generally.

Sophronia · 03/12/2016 21:27

I like it and prefer it to Davi

SuperManStoleMyPants · 03/12/2016 21:32

Me too Sophronia

I can imagine calling/saying Dionisio or Dino but not so much Davi, not sure why.

It's lovely.

Whatslovegottodo · 03/12/2016 21:48

I know a male Deon / Dion which would also make a good nickmame for your DS.

SuperManStoleMyPants · 03/12/2016 21:53

We thought about Dion as a nickname but DH wasn't keen. I think it reminds him of a not too nice child from his youth.

Sounds like an alcoholic drink or a disease, sorry

WyfOfBathe · 03/12/2016 22:45

I like Dino, but not so keen on Dionisio (that's just my personal preference though)

I also like Davi, but people might pronounce it like Davey.

WyfOfBathe · 03/12/2016 22:46

I've just suddenly realised that Dino is written the same as dino (dinosaur), which I suppose kids might pick up on. I still like it though.

Soubriquet · 03/12/2016 22:51

I'm a little worried any ancient geek would associate it with dionysus (God of wine)

As it looks like it's pronounced similar.

SuperManStoleMyPants · 03/12/2016 23:24

God of wine!!!

sold! Dionisio it is Grin

PoldarksBreeches · 04/12/2016 07:05

Dionisio is named for the god of wine, isn't it?
The reason I said it's a mouthful is because it's a 5 syllable name. That's quite a lot.

Jabuticaba · 05/12/2016 11:12

Do they have the Di as a G sound in Portuguese? I know the De is different to Brazilian Portuguese but not sure about Di, if it's not a g sound then perhaps but I prefer Davi as it is a lovely name, but I would add an accent on the í so people know it's a foreign name and then he can avoid being Davey.
