Gregory or Gregor?

Just that really. We're not Scottish and don't live in Scotland although there are Scottish roots on DH's side. Any thoughts much appreciated, really struggling to name this one!

Gregor for me. I love it.

ThisPasadenaHomemaker · 02/12/2016 21:10

I think Gregor is really really cool.

Gregory, not so much.

BratFarrarsPony · 02/12/2016 21:11

Gregor is very cool ...

SausageSoda · 02/12/2016 22:12

I prefer Gregor. Really like it. Not keen on Gregory.

GinasGirl · 02/12/2016 22:21

Gregor!

DramaAlpaca · 02/12/2016 22:22

Gregor

Jaggythistle · 02/12/2016 22:25

Gregor. Definitely.

Dh wouldn't let me use it. The DC in question turned out to be a DD anyway. :)

Gregor

This is very interesting - a lot of love for Gregor. It's a bit left field for me but there is definitely something hugely appealing about it. Wonder he what middle name would flow nicely...

I don't know how one letter can change it so much, but to me, Gregor is very strong and cool, while Gregory is very weak and 90s.

girlelephant · 03/12/2016 09:04

Gregor is lovely

Greedysquirrels · 03/12/2016 11:41

chewed I know exactly what you mean. I'm struggling with Gregory a bit as it feels a little limp to me when I'm having doubts whereas Gregor just seems more rugged. I'm just wondering why it's so rarely used - I've literally never come across a Gregor in RL or even anyone high profile I can think of. I think being to syllables makes it less of a mouthful and an easier fit on a baby too, possibly?

You see I'm the other way. I love Gregory but really don't like Gregor at all.

Joinourclub · 03/12/2016 12:21

Gregor makes me think of Igor from Frankenstein.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 03/12/2016 12:22

Gregor Stuart is a good Scottish combination in our family.

Lucked · 03/12/2016 12:24

Scottish here and know a few Gregors both adults and children. Great name.

Greedysquirrels · 03/12/2016 14:04

Which combination with a middle name works best do you think?
Gregor James (maybe too Scottish given our surname is also that way inclined)
Gregor Jack
Gregor Jake

No idea why all of my ideas start with a J...

OP posts:
SausageSoda · 03/12/2016 14:11

James. I don't think Jack or Jake sound quite right with Gregor.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 03/12/2016 14:13

Gregor James is lovely. Keep to the Scottish if you want - even if the surname is true blue like MacDonald, Wallace or McGinty it isn't overkill at all.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 03/12/2016 14:14

Definitely James - the others sound too modern to sit beside the traditional first name. I prefer Gregory

ThisPasadenaHomemaker · 03/12/2016 15:02

James is what immediately came to my mind! Gregor James is just fab.

cheweduprope · 03/12/2016 15:28

Agreed, Gregor James sounds best.
