It's for a middle name Smile

I'd definitely go for John. Jack was no.1 boys name for several years not long ago, so John is quite a lot more unusual now, while being an understated classic name.

John.

I love Jack too, but Jack is so, so popular and John seems to make a better middle name, IMO.

John

John for a middle name, although I love Jack as a name, probably my favourite boys name, I just didn't use it because it was so very popular.

cheweduprope · 01/12/2016 11:36

Jack. Because it's a better name and popularity wouldn't bother me for a middle name anyway.

John

JOhn. More unique (nowadays)

TheRealBarenziah · 01/12/2016 14:57

John. Simple, classic, and timeless.

  1. Same name. Jack is short for John (yes I know they are the same length, not my idea).
  1. John > Jack.
septembersunshine · 01/12/2016 16:33

Jack. John is ok. My American friend has a John but it somehow sounds so much cooler with that accent. I guess you could have Jonathan and Jon for a nickname. I prefer that to John. John lacks any kind of edge for me. Jack's popularity is regional too. For two years there wasn't another Jack in my sons Infants school. There was many ( Harry, William and Oliver's!) In each class. Maybe see what he looks like?

Cherylene · 01/12/2016 16:37

My family tree seems to be full of Jacks that turned out to be John.

It is the same name; people used to christen them John, then call them Jack for everyday use.

I would go for John. DS's class was full of Jacks 25 years ago and there are still loads.

SausageSoda · 01/12/2016 17:23

John.

Gruffalosfriend · 02/12/2016 08:46

John! Jack is soo dull and overused imo

sugarplumfairy28 · 02/12/2016 08:48

Jack, suits any age, whereas I think of John as being a middle aged grumpy bloke

Gruffalosfriend · 02/12/2016 08:56

Grumpy GrinHmm

Puremince · 02/12/2016 16:07

John. But you can't go wrong with either.
