One of the better flower names. It's soft-sounding, feminine and classy. Personally, I would never think of 'violent' at all and it's becoming so popular that any negative associations will fade away.

And the pronunciation is no problem. I'd just assume it would be pronounced slightly differently with different accents, that's all. That's the case with many names. Ask a Southerner and a Mancunian to pronounce 'Claire' ....and that never put anyone off......

Love it. It was top of the list for DC2 but he turned out to be a boy :-)

I prefer Violetta, that sounds more feminine. I also like Valentina.

Violet sounds too much like vile and violent in English imo.

I love it-think very pretty.
And reminds me of Maggie Smith's character in Downton Abbey-
a very positive "Violet" namesake.
I don't share any of the negative associations of PPs Flowers

I like it, and wouldn't have thought of any associations with the words violent or vile. I do have a little voice in my head saying "Violet! You're turning violet Violet!" though Grin

I love it! I always think of Violet Baudelaire in the kids series of books 'A series of unfortunate events', and she is seriously cool

I love it! I'm sure there are many names with fictional characters who aren't great, no one says don't go for Charlie or Michael due to Charlie and the chocolate factory. It wouldn't bother me. I love the colour, the flower and the name!

Love it. I also think of Violet Baudelaire or Violet Parr from The Incredibles. It's not uncommon but it's not super-popular either, and I think it's also a really nice middle ground between being old-fashioned but feeling modern, and being feminine but not too frilly.

Love it too and also agree given the immense popularity of other (still beautiful)flower names i.e. Lily, Daisy, Poppy, while still loved its by no means super trendy/everywhere while being a beautiful, graceful, sweet but punchy name.

I love it. If I used it, I would prefer Violette over Violet and call her Lettie.
