I like it... But like my friend you'll probably have to put up with people either not knowing how it's pronounced, asking how it's spelt etc.

Chinlo · 24/11/2016 16:55

Alee-see-uh or Alee-shuh?

Either way I quite like it.

walkerson · 24/11/2016 16:56

Alee-see-uh

I love it. My only concern would be that the two pronunciations are equally popular, and it's quite annoying having your name called out wrong every time.

IAmALionTamer · 24/11/2016 16:58

Love it when pronounced the way that you intend to. Classy and beautiful x

CremeEggThief · 24/11/2016 16:59

I love it.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 24/11/2016 17:00

I've heard it as
Ah-Lee-shuh
A-liss-ee-ah
Ah-lee-shee-ah

Bibs2014 · 24/11/2016 17:05

LOVE IT

Sophronia · 24/11/2016 17:57

I LOVE it and would seriously consider using it but I know one and when I asked which way they pronounce it (Alice-ia) they said I was the only person who had ever asked and everyone else since her birth had said Aleesha.

That would drive me bonkers so it's a no go for us.

GuinefortGrey · 24/11/2016 18:54

I have an Alice -ia and I'd say 90% of people call her Aleesha until they are corrected (gently Wink). I try to let it pass over my head but it is very annoying, especially as I am certain that "Alice - ia" is the historically, classically correct pronunciation and Aleesha is an imposter Grin.

I have a Polish friend called "Alicja" and I wish now that we had spelt it like that but I didn't know her then unfortunately!

Pemba · 24/11/2016 19:47

It's the American way, isn't it? Just like Marcia is pronounced Mar-see-a over here and Marsha over there. I knew an Alicia pronounced Aliss-eee-a and she would be in her fifties now. When we were young that was the only way to say it, as far as we knew. Also knew a Polish Alicja pronounced more or less the same. She used to be called 'Ala' for short.

theaveragewife · 24/11/2016 19:48

I think it's a wonderful name Grin

Pluto30 · 24/11/2016 19:55

It's pronounced Aleesha here, and it's very heavily associated with the 90s and bogans (chavs). I don't like it.

User1987654 · 25/11/2016 16:49

I love it. I also like Alyssia spelling. Allie and Lissy are sweet nicknames.

wintersbranches · 25/11/2016 16:49

I love it :)

User1987654 · 25/11/2016 16:50

I dislike the name Aleesha.
