I know I keep asking for Clara but we wanted to be sure and the popularity in the UK makes me rethink our choice.
Which do you like best Alba or Clara? DH is Spanish

Clara is such a boring name.

Clara is lovely and will be recognised only as a feminine name. I agree with PPs Alba can sound masculine and also is recognised as a brand name

Love clara. If I were to have another girl it would be my name of choice.

I quite like Alba, but it's more unusual here. What about Alma (soul)? That's probably more recognised.

Definitely Clara! She's number 3 on my girls list :)

I'm actually growing a little bit on Alba which is odd because I'd usually hate it :') but I do still see it as a little too outdated (albeit definitely coming back.)

Clara is classy, elegant, and so underused. I'd be thrilled to meet a little Clara!

Clara- lovely. Makes me think of Heidi.
Alba- clumsy sounding. Makes me think of The House of Bernada Alba, and she wasn't a nice character.

Clara, except if you have Scottish heritage, then Alba.

Clara, beautiful, classy name without being exceptionally popular.

We r in the UK so Clara will be better here. Need to check though how it will sound for Greek speakers as all my family is there and not a usual name, so it may not be easy to pronounce there

Do you like Alma at all?

IDreamOfPeace · 18/11/2016 09:55

I'd go for Clara Smile

I like Alba too but it makes me think of the grandmother from the drama/comedy/telenovela Jane The Virgin. She's a lovely character but I see it as a grandmother name now rather than a child's name Smile

Clara is pretty popular now, so Alba would be a refreshing change. It's a soft-sounding name which ends in a, like a lot of girls' names, so it doesn't sound masculine to me at all. And so what if it's a TV channel? So is Dave Grin I also like Ada and Alma.

So hard to decide, made the mistake of mentioning Clara to my mom and she said oh that is not a nice name 😔 And Alba is OK but do not like it as much as Clara. DH does not like Alma. How about Nora though I preferred something more unique? Do like the sounds in Nora though

Clara!

It really isn't a very popular name (yet!). Could maybe become more popular, but it's a long way behind the really popular names like Sophie, Amelia etc.

Cara, Anna, Nina, Louisa, Lena?

My daughter is called Alba Smile.

She was born during a very (long! ) snowy night and finally when the curtains were opened it was dawn. I wasn't planning to call her Alba at that point (it was 2nd on the original list and people had been a bit Confused whenever I'd mentioned it) but in that moment it seemed perfect and almost 4 years later it completely suits her.

We get a lot of compliments about her name. Especially when we're in Spain!
