I'm leaning towards Stephen, as there's Stephanie. Which do you prefer Steven or Stephen?

Stephen doesn't look right to me as my brother is a Steven

OdinsLoveChild · 17/11/2016 19:45

I prefer the Stephen spelling. Smile It's not a name I would use now though, it sounds very 80's retro to me.

Meadows76 · 17/11/2016 19:47

im leaning towards Stephen, as there's Stephanie can you explain that? I don't quite get what you mean Confused

Personally I would always go with Steven over Stephen from a bullying point of view - heard it a hundred times over being a 70's baby 'step-hen'

penelopemay · 17/11/2016 19:48

Well, Stephen and Stephanie are the male and female equivalent, so it seems right

How are you pronouncing it? I would pronounce both spellings the same or are you saying it the way Stephanie starts. I still prefer Steven

Thatwaslulu · 17/11/2016 19:50

Stephen. I think the "v" spelling doesn't look quite right, although I know quite a few Stevens.

Sophronia · 17/11/2016 19:54

Stephen, although I like both

Meadows76 · 17/11/2016 19:55

Well, Stephen and Stephanie are the male and female equivalent, so it seems right what seems right? I don't see what relevance Stephanie has?

AuntieStella · 17/11/2016 19:55

I prefer Stephen.

Or you could doge the issue completely and have a Stefan?

Lucked · 17/11/2016 19:57

Stephen

BastardBernie · 17/11/2016 19:59

I agree, Stephen and Stephanie are two different names, but it's not hard to see the similarities Grin
I say Steven, because then you can have Stevie as a nickname.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 17/11/2016 20:01

Stephen

oleoleoleole · 17/11/2016 20:03

All the Stevens I know are called Steve so I'd say Steven!

buttercup54321 · 17/11/2016 20:13

Steven. Not Step Hen.

penelopemay · 17/11/2016 20:17

The relevance is, Stephanie is the female version of Stephen

OP posts:
Chinlo · 17/11/2016 20:17

Steven, because I can't understand ph as a logical way of spelling a -v- sound.

Allalonenow · 17/11/2016 20:18

Stephen, (though I like Steve as a nn).

dementedpixie · 17/11/2016 20:19

Why is it relevant though?

DramaAlpaca · 17/11/2016 20:19

I like both, but I think if I was using the name I'd go for Stephen.

Sleeperandthespindle · 17/11/2016 20:20

Steven. Love it. My 4 year old DS has a 70s name and it's great!

WHY is that relevant?

penelopemay · 17/11/2016 20:23

Why does it matter why I think it's relevant? It just seems right to use that one

OP posts:
Lilacpink40 · 17/11/2016 20:23

Ph, but v for nn.

dementedpixie · 17/11/2016 20:23

Why are you asking which one to use then? Confused
