Surname will be Leeming.

Is the alliteration too much?

Both names are beautiful. The double L is a little clumsy, but it's in no way awful. They're good choices.

Fya (fire) could be a cool nn for Raphaella. It's intuitive if you pronounce the name 'Raph-eye-Ella'. Is it supposed to be 'Rapha-yella'? I'm never sure. It's my favourite of the two anyhow, and it avoids the double lee sound. But I don't think you can go wrong.

hopscotchegg · 13/11/2016 19:29

Nice separately but a little much together.

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 13/11/2016 20:20

Too much I think.

But just to note that Raphaels and Raphaellas that I've met have usually been Raffy, if anything, for a nickname! or Raff/Raph.

I think the Ms and Ls of both Romilly and Leeming together are too much as well. I'd put Raphaella as the first name, and then either Romilly or something else as the middle name.

I do like Romilly though.

RasperryInAMelon · 18/11/2016 14:49

I know a Romily Rose - I think it sounds perfect together!

hawkmcqueen · 18/11/2016 16:14

I much prefer Raphaela to Romilly. Raphaela Leeming sounds beautiful. I would not assume she will be called Ellie, or Ella. My first instinct would be Rafi. Small children usually say each others full name as they accept that's their name so she would probs be Raphaela for a good while.

Joinourclub · 18/11/2016 19:36

Both together sounds pretentious

TinaBacon · 18/11/2016 19:37

I love both names, but don't think Romilly flows very well with Leeming, sorry.

luckiestgirl · 18/11/2016 19:47

I love it.

However Romilly Leeming (which is what she will be called 99% of the time) sounds awkward and if it was me I would rethink.

EllenDegenerate · 19/11/2016 19:03

Thanks so much for all opinions

I remain undecided but its definitely between Romilly Raphaella and Raphaella Christobel.

I think we just need to see this baby to decide for certain.
Will report back in thirteen days time if not before 😀

Look forward to hearing your good news, OP. Good luck with the birth

Thank you Flowers

Good luck Ellen...my little Romilly arrived last week, a month early! I spent 3 days wondering if it was the right name... I realised I was really overthinking it Grin it's a beautiful name (as is Raphaela) and it really doesn't have to sound 100% perfect with the middle name or surname, as she will be Romilly nearly all of the time. I'm now overthinking nicknames! Confused

EllenDegenerate · 26/11/2016 18:25

Oh congratulations Mrs R. I did actually see your announcement on the December thread but its so fast moving in more of a lurker over there
Flowers.

My OH has decided to name her Romilly Marie Rose.
Marie Rose are my middle names so the decision has bern taken out of my hands which I'm glad of tbh.

Have you thought of milly/mills as a NN?
I dont think I'll encourage a NN but prefer milly to romy if its a choice between the two.

MrsRaymondReddington · 27/11/2016 13:03

I think that's lovely that you will share the same middle names. I don't mind Milly as a nn but DP hates it. I don't think there is anything that comes to mind that I particularly like, so I think she will probably just be Romilly. Smile

BadToTheBone · 27/11/2016 13:11

Romilly Leeming, too many L's, if she has a touch of a lisp, as many children do, it'll be Womiwy Weeming.

EllenDegenerate · 27/11/2016 17:04

And that will be simply adorable! Smile

OP posts:
BadToTheBone · 27/11/2016 19:56

Not when her friends are laughing at her for it.

MrsRaymondReddington · 27/11/2016 20:29

Erm....I think you're a bit confused as a lisp affects the pronunciation of the 's' sound.

EllenDegenerate · 27/11/2016 21:15

I wont be bringing her up to consider those who laugh at her to be her friends and mrs R is correct regarding your misunderstanding of that which constitutes a lisp.

Thanks for taking the time to give your opinion though Smile

OP posts:
BadToTheBone · 28/11/2016 00:25

There's no s in the same, but my ds said his L's as W's. So would've said it exactly that way. But thanks for that anyway.

Erm, you asked.

BadToTheBone · 28/11/2016 00:26

It's not a lisp granted but what I said is valid.

MrsRaymondReddington · 28/11/2016 04:40

Surely to pronounce it 'Womiwy one would have a problem with r's and l's? Hmm

ThoraGruntwhistle · 28/11/2016 04:54

Marie Rose like the sauce you put on prawns? Confused I preferred Raphaela.

EllenDegenerate · 28/11/2016 08:41

Its been a family name previous to Fanny Craddocks bastardisation of ketchup and mayonnaise circa 1960 😉

Still i take your point; there's no accounting for other peoples frame of reference.
Similarly if the baby is a boy I've been reliably informed that I'll be naming him after a ninja turtle 😀

LOL

And do you know BTTB thst with four days until my elcs im rather just hoping for a healthy baby, irrespective of the possibility of pronunciation problems in later childhood.
