Just how popular is it right now?

Never met one. Sounds like a nickname.

I know a 5yo one.

I think it's lovely- and still quite unusual

As a full name? I like it but thought it was the nickname for Elsbeth?

I know a couple of babies/toddlers called Elsie. I suspect it's moving up the charts, as it's pretty similar to Ellie/Ella and people are probably getting bored of them so looking for something a little more unusual.

My daughter Is Elise. You can guarantee that whenever we have an appointment and her name needs to be called over a tannoy (doctors usually) they will call 'Elsie'.

The last time it happened someone actually sniggered out loud in the waiting room when my daughter stood up.

I think it's lovely.

I know of one young Elsie, not sure if it's short for anything.

I've never met one under the age of about 75.

I think it one of those granny names that might be due a revival...just not quite yet.

I know two pre-schoolers called Elsie. Not keen, don't most people have a great great aunty Elsie who is 90+?
Elise otoh, is lovely

I know a toddler Elsie. Its quite cute.

I have met 2 under 1 at baby groups recently. I think people are choosing it over Elsa because of Frozen!

I've come across a couple of small Elsies in the last few years. Definitely an early 20th c granny type of name in my book, but it is being revived. I knew one elderly Elsie who hated it ... said it was a housemaid's name.

I think it's quite sweet, I know a baby Elsie and shes lovely.

I like elsie. It's a nn for Elizabeth. I'd use the full name on the birth certificate and then shorten it.

I'd hate to be called Elsie as a grown woman, it doesn't sound elegant at all. Maybe cute for a toddler, but not a teen or adult imo.

I have an Elsie who is 6 and adores her name as it is unique. She was named for a family friend

I know a few little Elsie's here. It is becoming fairly popular in my region.
My grandmother was Elsie so it is an old lady name to me but I do like it. My daughter has the middle name Elise after my grandmither but with IMO a bit of a more modern/pretty twist.

My granny was an Elsie so I associate it with old ladies and false teeth. It is a nickname for Elizabeth but it seems in the early 20th century it was given as a specific name. My nan was an Elsie on her birth certificate.

Mind you, my mother was going to be called Emily in 1940 in honour of my great grandmother but absolutely everyone said urgh no you can't call your child that it's so old fashioned. So she ended up being called Jean one of four in her class.

What goes around comes around. If you like it, go for it
