Baby girl is 7 days old. We both like Alexia, just nervous to commit to it! What are people's thoughts?

It's lovely, will probably be shortened to Alex or Lexi though Smile

DaisyQueen · 06/11/2016 09:36

I think it's lovely. Congratulations x

NerrSnerr · 06/11/2016 09:46

I personally prefer Alexa or Alexandra but if it's the name you love I would go with it.

Sophronia · 06/11/2016 17:51

I prefer Alexa due to the medical term alexia.

flumpybear · 06/11/2016 17:53

It's beautiful! Nn could even be Sasha

PaperdollCartoon · 06/11/2016 17:58

I like it, go for is. Lexi is a nice nn too.

PaperdollCartoon · 06/11/2016 17:59

How do you get Sasha from Alexia Hmm

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/11/2016 18:04

Alessia is nice too.

Jojo13 · 06/11/2016 18:57

I went to school with an Alexia and always really liked it. She got called Alex a lot rather than lexi but both nn's are nice too. Go for it.
And congrats x

Pluto30 · 06/11/2016 19:24

I prefer Alexa, but Alexia is nice. Congrats. Smile

As for the PP, Sasha is not a nickname for Alexia. It's a nickname for Alexandra/Aleksandra and one I think would only work in Russia.

HappyCamel · 06/11/2016 19:38

Maybe Alissa or Alexa.

This is what Alexia means
a neurologic disorder marked by loss of the ability to understand written or printed language, usually resulting froma brain lesion or a congenital defect.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/11/2016 20:15

Ouch !

Irishsummer · 06/11/2016 20:52

Thanks for the thoughts everyone.

Yeah I saw when I Googled the name that condition came up. I didn't think it was really an issue as it wouldn't be commonly known? I know I'd never heard of it!

Alexandra is my middle name and have always really liked it but I feel as it's quite a long name probably wouldn't be used in its full format whereas Alexia is more likely to be used?

We'd plan to use Ali or Lexi as a nn to avoid confusion of Alex being unisex but I know can't control that.

Lexi is very pretty OP.

rainbow99 · 06/11/2016 22:27

I like it but prefer Alexa too. Alessia sounds nicer than Alexia to me x

BossWitch · 06/11/2016 22:31

Love it! Never heard of the medical condition. Lots of options for shortening/nicknames.

abiirthdaycake · 07/11/2016 01:38

My first thought was the neurological disorder unfortunately. What about Alexis? I don't know what you could do about non-Alex nicknames there though, maybe Ali and Cissy (at a push)

Strawberry90 · 07/11/2016 01:39

Alexa is better and a lovely name

Congratulations on your new Dd!

Strawberry90 · 07/11/2016 01:41

Ps the Alexa I know always gets called lexa or lex- alex is not a natural nickname for Alexa or alexia imho

KoalaDownUnder · 07/11/2016 02:16

Alexa is much better.

My first thought on seeing Alexia was the medical condition. I think enough people know about it for it to be an issue.

TurquoiseDress · 07/11/2016 02:17

I much prefer Alexa...somehow seems more 'solid' whereas Alexia seems to have more potential variation, people getting it wrong etc
