Gertrud nickname Gertie isn't nice imo. And Greek or Gretchen is awful!

I do like Tatiana though!

Sorry, Gretel

Oh no. Please no. Gertrude is a horrible name. People will assume it's short for Gertrude.

I know a lovely little Gertrude. It suits her. I actually regret not giving DD it as a middle name, as DH's great grandmother was a notable Gertrude.

I love it. Beautiful.

Gretchen is worse! Sounds like retching!

Gertie is just not an attractive name IMO. Doesn't have a nice sound, and really old-fashioned. Gertie Guinea Pig food is a brand that comes to mind.

And Gertrude is actually worse. Pretty awful actually.

No to Gertie. Yes to Greta.

We had a local prostitute called Gertie, who became known as "dirty Gertie"...so it would be a no from me 😐

I love it. Gertie is Ben Affleck's daughter in this movie which has flew out of my mind! It is a risky name though x

To me this is one of the worst names ever. It sounds old and fat.
Sorry.

I am in my early 30s but it was the name my mother would call me if I was dawdling or not listening, either that or Fanny-Ann

Report
Ankleswingers · 07/11/2016 19:52

It's awful. you seriously can't saddle a child with that for the rest of their life. Hideous name!

Report
MartinaMartini · 07/11/2016 21:23

Hate!

I'm old enough to remember that Basil Brush was always cracking jokes about "Dirty Gertie at Number 30" so I'm afraid it's a no from me.

I like it. Also Greta nice.

hels18 · 08/11/2016 09:37

Sorry, it reminds me of when I kept guinea pigs and fed them Gertie Guinea pig food!

It's seriously ugly, both written down and to the ear. Don't do it.

Would you change your name to Gertie, OP?

Report

I don't like Gertie but the suggestion of Greta is nice.

What about Marnie?
