My gut says Aiden
But I know an Aidan & it just looks better when typed

7to25 · 30/10/2016 19:39

Aidan

TaffetaMuttonfudge · 30/10/2016 19:41

We had this exact same dilemma last week, and ended up going with Aidan. Both are lovely though Smile

peaceloveandbiscuits · 30/10/2016 19:43

What swung it for you, taffeta?

Aiden Smile

Pluto30 · 30/10/2016 19:46

Aidan.

Infinitely nicer.

FreeButtonBee · 30/10/2016 19:46

Aidan. It's closer to the full constanant heavy original Irish. Aidan is a horrific American bastardisation.

AuntieStella · 30/10/2016 19:49

Aidan, like the saint

NapQueen · 30/10/2016 19:52

Aidan.

BackforGood · 30/10/2016 19:59

See - this is a name I'd avoid, as, as has already been demonstrated, you are always going to get it spelled 'wrongly' by half the population, whichever you decide.

Sophronia · 30/10/2016 20:28

Aidan

TaffetaMuttonfudge · 30/10/2016 20:40

Peace - we just decided that it looked nicer written, and also at a real push if he wanted to he could potentially shorten it to Dan when he gets older if nothing else. And I understand it's more traditional.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 30/10/2016 20:47

Or Aido taffeta Grin

septembersunshine · 31/10/2016 17:54

I have a 9 week old Aidan. It's a family name for us and we love it. Aidan vote for me... It's the original Irish spelling and the saints name. Not really sure what's the story with the other spelling. And like the pp said I like the Dan in there. It's stronger looking and can be a nn. Just to warn you lots of people will write it Aiden but I just say..oh, No, it's the traditional spelling with an a or, just think Aidan Turner from Poledark...seems to do the trick!

GentleOnMyMind · 31/10/2016 18:27

Aidan, it's irish, I know lots of Aidan's and zero Aiden's.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 31/10/2016 18:39

I did try to find out which was the traditional spelling, but lots of sources seem to think there's no difference. I think I will go with Aidan. Thank you all!

All the Irish ones I know are Aidan. Aiden is wrong.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 31/10/2016 21:20

The only Aiden I know of is the one in Sex and the City.

weegiemum · 31/10/2016 21:33

Aidan. I have one!

DramaAlpaca · 31/10/2016 21:34

Aidan.

Aiden isn't authentic & doesn't look right.

TaggieRR · 31/10/2016 21:41

Aidan

SprogletsMum · 31/10/2016 21:42

I have an Aidan it is the best way, but everybody spells it Aiden it drives me mad because it just looks wrong.

WatcherIsInYourNightamares · 31/10/2016 21:51
