Which of these two names do you prefer for a girl?

Baby is due in February. Going to wait until baby is here to officially decide which name if its a girl (a boy's name is 99% set) but just wondering if there was a clear favourite as I swing back and forth daily between the two girls names we like. Both sound great with the surname.

Which do you prefer?
Ffion or Nia

Nia

So, Ffion is Fee-on?

I honestly like both. Nia does sound a lot like Mia, so... maybe she'd need to correct people often? Idk.

WeArePregnant11 · 28/10/2016 17:40

Oops. Just saw that somebody else mentioned the "Mia" thing.

AmysTiara · 28/10/2016 17:41

Nia definitely.

BadToTheBone · 28/10/2016 17:44

Ffion

Never heard of Nia makes me think of kneeing in the groin! Just a warped mind I guess!

123beanie · 28/10/2016 17:45

Nia

Ffion

Prefer Ffion, both are nice though.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/10/2016 20:07

Ffion, lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 28/10/2016 20:21

I prefer Ffion.

MrsHathaway · 28/10/2016 20:26

Nia would be mispronounced nye-ah and/or mistaken for Mia (which is a pet hate of mine because it means "mine").

Ffion would occasionally get misspelled but otherwise lovely.

user1477427207 · 28/10/2016 20:29

why would Nia be pronounced Nye-ah, we do not say My-ah for Mia do we?

leoniethelioness · 28/10/2016 20:31

Ffion

Thelastusername · 28/10/2016 20:32

Ffion. Quite popular in South Wales though, although don't know any little ones.

Foxtato · 28/10/2016 20:33

Ffion!

soundsystem · 28/10/2016 20:33

I love Nia. Are you in Wales? Agree it might be confused with Mia elsewhere but that wouldn't put me off.

(I was always planning on using Nia if I had a girl, but DH wasn't keen, as in some of our relatives accents it sounds like "near")

BlueSpottyTiger · 28/10/2016 20:35

I love Nia! I have a Mia xx

OhTheRoses · 28/10/2016 20:35

Ffion.

LynetteScavo · 28/10/2016 20:37

Mia

LynetteScavo · 28/10/2016 20:37

Nia

AuntieStella · 28/10/2016 20:38

Ffion

(The other sounds like near or knee-er, and that puts me off though others might not see it as an issue)

pimmsy · 28/10/2016 20:40

If you're even going to visit France I'd go with Nia
Ffion -> ((dicocitations.lemonde.fr/dico-mot-definition/62111/fion.php Fion))
