Brogan - boys name or girls name?!

I've come across the name Brogan, which I like for a boy, but I've seen it used a lot for a girl, and I know a few girls with the names, but no boys.

Around when I was born, it was apparently a lot more popular for girls (165 girls vs 34 boys), but last year, it was much more popular for boys (58 boys vs 16 girls).

Should I add it to my boys list, even though the Brogans my age are girls? Or should I let it go? Confused

I know a girl Brogan. And it's awful and ugly IMO - sorry :(

KoalaDownUnder · 28/10/2016 04:00

It is absolutely horrible for either sex.

And yes, I would hope he/never wants to go to Australia. 'Bogan' = 'Chav'. Shock

stonygreysoil · 28/10/2016 09:04

neither, sorry. Brody? or Logan?

Rissto · 21/12/2018 12:49

It's not nice to say it's ugly, awful or horrible. If you don't like it just say you don't like it as others have here. I think it's great for a boy and ok for a girl.

It sounds like something teenagers call their friends as a stupid bro joke. Like

"sup broseph"
"yooo bromepheus"
"how's it going brosama bin laden?"
"later broprah winfrey"
"peace, brogan"

MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/12/2018 14:36

I know 1 boy & 1 girl it suits both :)

MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/12/2018 14:37

DioVelazquez · 21/12/2018 14:38

Oh great, thanks Rissto you got me posting on a zombie thread.

Bluebonnieblue · 21/12/2018 15:01

I've never heard it as a name. I've only heard of bogan which is apparently a chav in Australia and Brogan reminds me of that

Belindabauer · 21/12/2018 16:45

I think it suits both but agree it does sound masculine.

percheron67 · 21/12/2018 22:54

Neither. It is a surname.

Shadow1234 · 22/12/2018 03:49

I know a young boy named Brogan, and whilst it has been used for boys and girls, I do think it sounds more masculine.

Didyeeaye · 23/12/2018 00:23

I know a few girls called Brogan so definitely a girls name to me sorry
