My nephew is Blake - we were sceptical when we heard that was the name planned for him tbh but it suits him perfectly and doesn't seem strange at all. He's 8 now and it's still unusual without being too out there. Agree with pp that it transcends classes. If you like it, go for it.

I'm not a huge fan of surnamey names, but I do like Blake. Probably because DS has a friend called Blake & he's lovely. It goes well with Jude.

I was born in the 80's so don't make that connection.

Like it (although did presume this would be an Amy Winehouse thread, didn't see it was in baby names until I got here!). Love the Rafferty suggestion above too.

Don't like it particularly, but it's OK. Better than some 'surname' type names, like Hunter, Carter, Mason, Archer, which are derived from occupations and just sound silly IMO.

If you'd seen the Amy documentary the name might not have good associations. The name has no direct connection to the poet for me. It's a modern first name like Tyler, Mason etc.
The sound of the word Blake is nice and I like its androgyny. Nobody's mentioned the actress Blake Lively but she'll be around in pop culture for a long while yet.

I also really like it.

Goes well with Jude too.
