80s Aussie!

WallisFrizz · 22/10/2016 15:53

It's quite nice, transcends the classes I think.

Stupidity88 · 22/10/2016 15:54

Love Jude. Particularly for a boy.

One word.... Seven!
Or am I the only geek around?

AndieNZ · 22/10/2016 16:26

Reminds me of 80s American programme, Dynasty!

Like Blakeley though...

Chinlo · 22/10/2016 19:44

I quite like it (for a boy) and think it goes well with Jude.

MotherDuckSaid · 22/10/2016 20:23

not a fan sorry, bit rough around the edges..

Furcat85 · 22/10/2016 21:06

My nephew is Blake - we were sceptical when we heard that was the name planned for him tbh but it suits him perfectly and doesn't seem strange at all. He's 8 now and it's still unusual without being too out there. Agree with pp that it transcends classes. If you like it, go for it.

T0ldmywrath · 22/10/2016 21:09

Yeah I thought it'd be great when he is 7 ImSoVeryTired

I like the name though OP, Blake Carrington from Dynasty was very distinguished.

with his brother Avon

Smartleatherbag · 22/10/2016 21:18

It's a lovely name.

CaoNiMa · 22/10/2016 21:37

Sounds like flake which makes me think of dandruff Shock

DramaAlpaca · 22/10/2016 22:49

I'm not a huge fan of surnamey names, but I do like Blake. Probably because DS has a friend called Blake & he's lovely. It goes well with Jude.

Vixxfacee · 22/10/2016 22:50

Like

SlinkyB · 22/10/2016 22:53

Like. Considered for ds2. We also liked Rafferty, Elijah and Charlie.

I was born in the 80's so don't make that connection.

moomoo222 · 22/10/2016 22:58

Like it (although did presume this would be an Amy Winehouse thread, didn't see it was in baby names until I got here!). Love the Rafferty suggestion above too.

Ollycat · 22/10/2016 23:31

I think it's great. My son has a friend called Blake - I hadn't thought about the Dynasty link just the poet.

GinevraPotter · 23/10/2016 00:07

I like it. It goes nicely with Jude.

Pemba · 23/10/2016 00:50

Don't like it particularly, but it's OK. Better than some 'surname' type names, like Hunter, Carter, Mason, Archer, which are derived from occupations and just sound silly IMO.

Glad it's not for a girl!

Mornflake · 23/10/2016 08:10

If you'd seen the Amy documentary the name might not have good associations. The name has no direct connection to the poet for me. It's a modern first name like Tyler, Mason etc.
The sound of the word Blake is nice and I like its androgyny. Nobody's mentioned the actress Blake Lively but she'll be around in pop culture for a long while yet.

swimmerforlife · 23/10/2016 08:42

I also really like it.

Goes well with Jude too.
