Skyler/Skylar for a boy?

DS1 due in 3 week and still no name. I really love Skylar/Skyler. Would this name be acceptable for a boy? If so which spelling would you use?

I like the suggestion of considering the name in the level of job you aspire your children to have. President of the USA? PM of the UK? Engineer? Teacher? Social worker? Musician?

Personally for me it's not a boys name, and I'm not a fan of "unusual" spellings.

I actually prefer it for a boy. I like Sky/Skye for a boy too.

Maybe I'm trying too hard to find a name that's different and not overused I could blame it on the hormones but I do genuinely like it, for a boy or a girl. Maybe I should save it for when I have a girl, if I do ever have a girl

I have heard of boys and girls which have used this name, but don't know anyone with the name so I can't really associate it to one sex. DH said it sounded more feminine which is why I asked.

No. Please don't. Plenty more unusual boys names out there if that's your thing, this name is bad enough for a girl. He would be teased so badly.

It's a girl's name, and a very American one at that.

Quite like Jasper but not with our surname. Casper just makes me think of the ghost, so puts me off slightly
