39 weeks today and still not sure on names. I finally have a shortlist but still nothing that jumps out at me as loving it. Hoping once baby arrives we will just know.

Any thoughts or suggestions on;

Alice
Annabelle
Phoebe
Isla

Elliot
Caleb
Noah
Milo
Miles

Middle name for girl will be Dorothy and boy Benjamin.

Should say, Caleb.

Spottyladybird · 18/10/2016 18:24

I have a Phoebe so love this, love Alice too.

Loads of Elliots and Noahs around here, I like Miles. Have you considered Jude?

Aliveinwanderland · 18/10/2016 19:27

I'm not a fan of Jude. It's a bit too unusual for round here.

Annabelle! We picked that name for our baby...who turned out to be a boy. I love the nickname Annie but you also have Anna or Belle. Just gorgeous and classic. The boys names you have are nice but none really jump out at me. I guess Noah...but someone once said it sounds like 'do you know her?' And now all I hear is know her for Noah. Milo then. Find Elliot a bit feminine and dislike Elli as a nickname.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/10/2016 20:53

Annabelle Dorothy and Benjamin Elliot, sound nice OP.
Annie and Ben.

BarInSpace · 18/10/2016 21:33

Alice Dorothy or Miles Benjamin, because I think those first names flow best with the middle names you've chosen.

Aliveinwanderland · 19/10/2016 21:08

Well DH has decided against Elliot which was my favourite. He claims Elliot will be given the nickname Smelliot! He has also ruled out Noah which I can live with.

He wants Miles but I just can't make my mind up. I think it's a marmite name and I'm not sure which side of the fence I'm on.

Would it be really stupid to name him Miles but use Milo for day to day when he is young? I prefer Milo but had been a bit worried about him being a teenager as Milo is a bit babyish whereas he could revert to Miles as he is older.

He also kicked Phoebe off the list and has decided against Annabelle so looks like it's going to be Alice for a girl!

It's such a difficult decision!

Alice and Elliott from me

DouglasFirs · 19/10/2016 21:16

I think it's nice to use a name that has nice connotations for you - so "Alice" because you love Alice in Wonderland, for example. Even if a name becomes really popular, you'll still love it because it was used in relation to something you love, rather than it just sounded nice at the time.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/10/2016 21:25

Miles (Milo), very nice OP.

MotherDuckSaid · 20/10/2016 07:05

Reeeally like Miles Benjamin 👍

Aliveinwanderland · 20/10/2016 08:04

I'm trying to use Miles and see if I'm warming to it. I think I like it.
Problem is our surname ends in an S so I really don't think it goes. It's a bit S'y!

Miles is the plural of Mile to my ears so a bit like naming your son Kilometres Grin. But maybe that's just me.
