Has anyone been 100% set on a name for years

And partner like it too, and ended up not using it? If so, why?

We've had our future baby names set for years (and the boy name long before I met DP) but now we're getting closer to making actual babies I'm starting to doubt our choices. I still love the names but I just don't feel so sure.

Highly theoretical conversation I know but interested to hear from others.

I really loved the names Lily and Eve/Evie. By the time dc were a reality for me both names were ridiculously popular and had been used in my own family. Also dh had other ideas and I ended up moving abroad and choosing names which suit the country we live in. I think it's interesting that so many other people in my generation had the same ideas. I liked the names as they are beautiful but were a bit unusual at the time. Obviously I'm less original than I thought!

I didn't but my DH had a spreadsheet of baby names he liked from before we met. Our DD's name isn't on it.

I had a name that I read in a book years and years ago that I had never heard before and fell in love with. When we fell pregnant, I told my mum this was one of the choices and she said it was chavvy and nasty, I couldn't possibly call my child that. I was heartbroken. My dd was nameless for ten days whilst I tried to find something that I like even a little bit and in the end, my partner said this is the only name she can have and she is called that! I love her name, and everyone who hears it tells me they love it. I doubt my mum even remembers as she has never mentioned it since

I know not quite what you was asking but we very nearly didn't give her that name, but nothing else suited her
