What do you think about Rory? Looking for a name that is not overused but not unheard ofSmile

Boy or gitrl?

HaPPy8 · 11/10/2016 20:05

Love it for a boy

CEOD · 11/10/2016 20:05

Boy, obviously. I like Rory - good old traditional Scottish name.

AlmaMartyr · 11/10/2016 20:07

I like it but prefer it for a boy. Hadn't heard of it as a girls name before The Gilmore Girls but not hugely keen.

bubbblegum · 11/10/2016 20:08

Yes for a boy Smile

DH parents are Scottish so I bet they will love it when we mention it.

Robert kennedy's last child was a girl, rory.

GruochMacAlpin · 11/10/2016 20:11

I think it's lovely. It's pretty common in Scotland, although your spelling isn't typically the one used.

Chelsea26 · 11/10/2016 20:14

I have a Rory - he's 5 and the only one in his year. There are 3 in his school but it is catholic so I think it's slightly skewed (and one of them is spelt differently)

He loves his name - go for it!

n0ne · 11/10/2016 20:18

Lovely name!

Watchingitall · 11/10/2016 20:25

I like it. One of my best friends is called Rory. However, every time I mention him my Dad, who is in his 60's shouts 'Roaaarrry Tiger' and then laughs to himself.
We generally ignore him now.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/10/2016 20:34

Gorgeous name.

Oysterbabe · 11/10/2016 20:46

I find it a bit of a mouthful to say. Probably just me.

Batteriesallgone · 11/10/2016 21:04

I always struggle to pronounce it. Anyone with a bit of an issue with their 'R's finds it quite hard to say (obviously). One of those ones where I have to pause what I'm saying to say it.

DramaAlpaca · 11/10/2016 21:06

I absolutely love it, but only for a boy.

GruochMacAlpin · 11/10/2016 21:43

How is a two syllable name a mouthful? Grin

cheekyfunkymonkey · 11/10/2016 21:45

Love it, would have used it if friends of ours hadn't beat us to it!!

Queenhoneybee · 11/10/2016 21:47

I know a soon to be 2 year old Rory. He suits it perfectly. Fab name!

Pigeonpost · 11/10/2016 21:48

I have a 5 year old Rory too. It's a lovely name.

Batteriesallgone · 11/10/2016 21:48

Because both syllables start with an R! It's a killer! (In a way that, say, Robert isnt).

Oysterbabe · 11/10/2016 21:49

It's hard to explain I just struggle to say it! I don't struggle with Rs usually but something about that name, it comes out sounding like Rowry.

Oly5 · 11/10/2016 21:49

I know a Rory and he's lovely

Oysterbabe · 11/10/2016 21:49

Glad it's not just me Grin

Muddlingalongalone · 11/10/2016 21:50

I love it. Only know one, who's 4 so not overused.
I do sing roary the racing car everything someone says his name though

Cahu58 · 11/10/2016 21:54

If DD2 had been a boy she be Rory now, please use it ... It's a fab name

Thundercake · 11/10/2016 22:01

Love it but prefer the Irish spelling, Ruairí
