Can you get away with Jesse?

I've loved the boys name Jesse ever since watching Breaking Bad!
It would go nice with our surname.

But I just think I'll get loads of slagging off.

What's everyone's honest opinions and do you know a Jesse?

I really like it but have this ridiculous irrational worry that people/kids at school would dish out loads of crap! (Kids at school will dish out loads of crap about anything I expect, so it is irrational!)
I do know a Jesse, mid-late twenties, lovely guy, very softly spoken, very attractive and well built (does a lot of weights) I always wonder if he bulks up a bit as a result of him being called Jesse...?! 😁

And think the insult 'big Jessie' is well enough known in many parts of UK to give pause to using it here.

Know of a couple of male Jesses.

Know two female Jessies. One is in her 80s and is Scottish. One is my good friend, who was from Indiana, US originally.

I can't see why it'd get slagged off? I prefer it for a girl, but there's nothing wrong with Jesse for a boy.

"In my day you'd say someone was a Jesse if they were a wuss"

"Jesse?? That's a girls name"

That kind of thing.
I think Fearne cottons husband is called Jesse and he looks cool.

Are you really cool? Is your child likely to be tall/muscular/attractive/cool/confident. I think under those circumstances it might work.

I wouldn't risk it for my child!

I know a baby boy Jesse. I like it. I did think he was a girl the first time I met him (lots of hair and a neutral coloured baby grow). In fact I think I prefer it for a boy.

I know quite a few boys named Jesse (am a teacher). Is a perfectly unremarkable name as far as I'm concerned.

it certainly seems to be getting more popular, ive spoken to a few pregnant mums who are going with this name and also met some little Jesse's recently.

I think as long as you're somewhere with a range of names i.e. a diverse town/city, it will be fine.

I like traditional names but I've always liked Jesse as a name.

I've never met a Jesse who wasn't really cool and as I lived in the US, I've met several. I absolutely love it and would have used it but my surname is a J too and I hate JJ.

I know one Jesse and he is now 2.5 years old. I guess I like the name because I know him and he's a lovely little boy, but I am not sure I would use it myself though as I think it sounds slightly American and I would worry about it for the reasons others have identified above.

It seems to be becoming increasingly popular in my bit of London at the moment.

I know a 4yo Jesse. I like it.
