What do you think of Ariadne? Ariadne Florence. I have an Amelia. Are Amelia and Ariadne too much of a mouthful? Amelia is 17 and doesn't live at home.

I love it on its own. It is a bit of a mouthful with ameliorate, but I don't think you will be saying it that much as your older one doesn't live at home.

flanjabelle · 29/09/2016 08:30

Amelia *

JennyOnAPlate · 29/09/2016 08:33

i like it but I prefer Arianne.

CurlsLDN · 29/09/2016 08:34

I love it. Sounds beautiful, lovely to say and not heard often.
I think Amelia and Ariadne also sound lovely together, and since you won't be trying to yell both names at toddler group should be fine.
However, I am arachnophobic so even though I appreciate the beauty of the name it does make me feel a bit creeped out due to the association

Pyrrha · 29/09/2016 08:36

You're thinking of Arachne, Ariadne was the figure from the Minotaur myth iirc . I love it, it's a lovely name.

skyyequake · 29/09/2016 08:43

I love it!

Are your girls going to be close in age? Because you might be fending off questions about if they're twins with two A names Grin

That being said there's no reason you cant use it! Its a lovely name and not too much of a mouthful. You'll find you wont say "Amelia and Ariadne" much, you'll probably say "the girls" and when introducing "this is Amelia and this is Ariadne" so it wont be like their entire lives will be a tongue twister Grin

Skaarsgard · 29/09/2016 08:45

I love it! (I wanted it for one of mine but my husband didn't agree)

EssentialHummus · 29/09/2016 08:51

I really like it.

Trulymadlymotherly · 29/09/2016 08:59

Beautiful. It was high on my list for a girl.

Ohdofuckoffplease · 29/09/2016 09:23

I love it! Think it goes fine with Amelia but also agree people might think they're twins of close in age. That wouldn't bother me particularly though.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/09/2016 10:03

Lovely OP.

OpposableThumbs2 · 29/09/2016 11:53

DH was really keen to call DD1 Ariadne. We ended up with an Amelia. Still think it is a lovely name though.

Raines100 · 29/09/2016 12:03

Ariadne is a great name. It's close enough to Amelia to think twice, but not close enough to stop you going for it. I think it will be fine.

Curls must have grown up in the '90s, as there were a couple of spiders called Ariadne on kids tv shows on CBBC back then. Wouldn't let it put you off, though.

DramaAlpaca · 29/09/2016 12:07

Fabulous name, go for it!

MadamePeacock · 29/09/2016 12:23

There will be 18 years between the girls with other kids in between, including one other A name (Alfie). I wanted to avoid using the same letters again especially on the same sex but I'm in love with Ariadne nn Ari/Aria.

skyyequake · 29/09/2016 12:26

Oh 18 years? Definitely go for it, I doubt anyone would think twice about it apart from very annoying people

I would guess that she'd end up being called Ari at school, unless she hates it and snaps at everyone "it's Ariadne!!!" Grin

CousinCharlotte · 29/09/2016 12:27

I think it's lovely Smile

Honeybee79 · 29/09/2016 14:21

lovely name.

Fuckingbollocksbugger · 29/09/2016 14:58

Heinous IMO.

Leirope · 29/09/2016 15:25

Love it. It was on our list of girls names before we found out DS was a boy (who also has a name from Greek mythology).

kittykatval · 29/09/2016 20:44

Absolutely beautiful

ScarletSienna · 29/09/2016 20:47
