I've noticed that Ivy is getting quite popular, but I still love it!

Opinions on Ivy Meg?

Love both names, but not really together. I think Meg is a bit abrupt after Ivy, and you might need something longer?

thehugemanatee · 25/09/2016 03:30

It's unusual but I kind of like it.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/09/2016 11:01

Love both names, but I think Ivy Megan, sounds a bit better OP.
Or even Ivy Margaret.

HopperBusTicket · 25/09/2016 11:04

I like them both and together. I think they'll sound better with a long surname (say, 3 syllables). Perhaps not if your surname is Smith.

Nonameyet1 · 25/09/2016 12:40

I like Ivy but I like full names for middle names so like Ivy Megan better than Ivy Meg.

Darthvadersmuuuum · 25/09/2016 13:00

Ivy Megan. Ivy Meg sounds like a fortune teller name (to me).

PotatoBread · 26/09/2016 14:36

Ivy Megan sounds much better. Ivy Meg just doesn't sound right - too short and abrupt

NapQueen · 26/09/2016 14:41

I have a Meg so am biased and love the name. However it sounds far to abrupt straight after Ivy as a middle name.

Could you use Ivy this time with a softer MN and Meg next time?

ExtraMushroomsPlease · 26/09/2016 14:43

I have an Ivy so I'm also a bit biased! But I agree Ivy Megan is lovely but Meg sounds a bit harsh to me, like it's been cut short.

ExtraMushroomsPlease · 26/09/2016 14:45

Also agree on it getting popular, my Ives is 6 and I've heard it popping up now more than ever as a potential name.

gettingitwrongputingitright · 26/09/2016 14:47

Love it.

tinymeteor · 26/09/2016 15:41

Like it, provided your surname's right. Bear in mind the initials are IM so for example if your surname's Smart your child's name says "I'm Smart". If your surname is Cocking (yes, I know one), maybe not so much.

No idea why that posted twice, sorry

FindingNemoFindingDory · 28/09/2016 03:10

I'd go for it!

ample · 28/09/2016 03:28

Ivy and Meg, both very pretty but together the names sound flat.
Changing Meg to Megan doesn't help either imo.

sycamore54321 · 28/09/2016 03:45

It doesn't work for me - it sounds like some kind of abbreviation for a drug or a government office or obscure scientific thing, like I.V.Meg. I agree that with such a short first name, a more substantial middle name works better.

I could be biased though because I dislike ivy as a plant and what it symbolises.

I'm not a huge fan of plant names but how about Viola, or Iris as similar alternatives?
