Thoughts? I'm Japanese, DH is English. It means cherry blossom. Would it be pronounceable in the UK? DH thinks so, but just want to double check Smile

Easily pronounced and pretty. I already knew what it meant because of this.

I think it's definitely pronouncesable in the UK, not too dissimilar to Satsuki.

There is a lovely Japanese restaurant of that name in Liverpool- went years ago for dh's birthday and had a fab evening!

My daughter's best friend is called Sakura. They are in yr 1 and no one has a problem pronouncing it, maybe sometimes slightly different intonation. Her parents (mother is Japanese) says SAkura and teachers say saKURa. It's a beautiful name with a lovely meaning.

gorgeous name. I don't think we could have got away with it as no japanese heritage but as pp says most english folks have come across the pronunciation in lush so no worries there. go for it

Love the name Sakura. What about Kimi, Mai or Maiko, Ami, Hana etc? They're all easy to pronounce and have lovely meanings in Japanese?

It's lovely, OP. I think you'll get some minor mispronunciations, but nothing too far off - probably just an over-extended and over-emphasised second syllable.

I miss doing hanami in Japan!
