Thoughts please? How many do you know, where are you and how old. Loved it for ages, now trying for Dc2 and having a wobble.

Thanks

I have known about 4 over the years, all different ages, all gorgeous girls/women. It's such an underused classic, strong but pretty, don't wobble!

DH's absolute favourite name.

I'm less keen because of Tess of the d'Urbervilles (and only then because my job randomly connects me to it, so people at work would think it was weird)

pieceofpurplesky · 21/09/2016 20:37

I love it - sweet for a child and cool for an adult

mathanxiety · 22/09/2016 06:06

Gorgeous name.

I know two Tesses (can't decide what the plural of Tess is, sorry), no Tessas.

They are not short for anything, just Tess on their BCs. Both are teens.

Whoooodat · 22/09/2016 07:43

I like Tess not Tessa. I know one in her 50s, no little ones at all.

Frazzled2207 · 22/09/2016 07:51

Was high up on my list (had boys). I also think it's a fab dog's name but don't let that put you off.
Prefer Tess to Tessa/Teresa/Tessalyn etc

Tess is a lovely nickname but a bit short for a name in its own right.

What is wrong with T(h)eresa? (Tess of the d'Urbervilles' real name).

BoxofSnails · 22/09/2016 08:54

Like it, tho I'd probably go with Teresa. But Tessa is lovely, unusual, but entirely spell-able. Go for it (and congratulations on dc2).

GoNorthDarren · 22/09/2016 09:35

I was perusing old threads on baby names and someone said Tess / Tessa could be short for Esther. Maybe a bit tenuous but I like it all the same.

BeastofCraggyIsland · 22/09/2016 23:19

Beautiful name, I think I prefer Tess to Tessa, but both are great.

kmini · 23/09/2016 22:39

Is Estella to much of a stretch for Tess? Think I can probably answer that question myself.Smile

One of my favourite people is called Tess, and all the ones I've ever met have been lovely people.

Usernamer · 24/09/2016 05:23

I think Tessa is gorgeous as a full name, I have always considered it a name in its own right. I don't think you need anything else (not keen on Estella).

And Tess is divine as her day to day name. You can't go wrong, great choice!

StopHammerTime · 24/09/2016 22:26

Tess/Tessa is my name and I have always loved having a name which is not overused but recognised immediately. Go for it!

Enidblyton1 · 25/09/2016 17:22

Fab name! I know one Tessa in her 60s and two under fives (maybe becoming a bit more popular in last couple of years?)
