Baby names

Malcolm or Jaden!

My dp and I did not want to discuss names until we found out what we were having. Yesterday we went on to the named together website and out of the top 500 names of UK and USA we have NO names in common. Unbelievable.
I scrolled through his tick list. I couldn't believe it.
Malcolm
Jaden
Adrian
Kingston

Help!

(My names won't be liked either on here from past experience, my top pick is Carter or Roman).

But his name choices are all over the place and I cannot think of any suggestions!

Kingsley is nice.

My list was:
Carter
ASA
Tate
Roman
Cameron

Middle name Alexander.

your list is of surnames!
I agree with you entirely on his list though.
Alexander as a first name?

Kingsley Alexander would be fab! Roman Alexander would be good too. Malcolm Alexander also good.

Definitely seem to be (apart from Malcolm) very American style names, so second the suggestion of looking at TV and film credits, or American naming websites.

Your list is truly awful. Please let his father name him.

I'm married to a Malcolm. He is lovely, however, not mad on the name, or any of the names on your list. Perhaps it's time to go back to the drawing board?

Sorry, I meant your husband's list. Horrid. Of your list I love love love Carter. Really fab.

he will be known as teh unstoppable sex machine though, surely? which is probably what he wants in the 17 - 25 window, but for the rest of his life? not ideal

Roman is really nice, imo.

Also, agree with others that rather than go for 'Kingston', I'd go for 'Kingsley'. Sounds refined and is still reasonably unusual whilst sounding traditional. Great name that ticks all of the boxes for me.

My Grandpa was called Malcolm. He was always called Mac which I think is a great shortening of it. Much prefer it to Jaden.

Out of your list, I like Roman Alexander Hunt.

Sorry OP, wrong surname, different thread.

Adrian is the nicest name on the first list, although I like Malcolm too. I dislike Jaden and I live near Kingston so to me it just seems absurd to use as a name.

I'm not keen on surnames as first names either, but if I was choosing from your list I'd pick Cameron, possibly influenced by the fact that I know a little Cameron who is lovely!

Jaden or Malcolm. You couldn't get 2 more extremes if you tried. Jaden is chavvy and conjures up a chavvy clique mother and a badly behaved child. Whereas Malcolm is classy old fashioned and conjures up a polite mum and well behaved child.
We all build up an image when we hear a name.
I do also like Kingston though.

I love Malcolm. Used to know one who went by Milly.

Malcolm is fine but I'm in Scotland, Mallkie is a shortening here, that is not so fine.

Oh I like Mallkie. I don't like Milly.

I like Carter but then I have one so I'm biased. We also have a Sullivan and my imaginary 3rd son would be Griffin.

Of your list I love Roman as well but it didn't go with our surname and other names we considered were Elliot or Brandon.

I love how totally random your DH's choices are! They don't follow a theme at all. Although he's done better than my DH did, who's only input at the start of our baby name conversations were "(DH name) Jr", DDog1 name or DDog2.

In his defense, he was the one that offered Carter, so I can let him off.

ASA? Do they stand for something?

I like Malcolm and Roman.

I love the name Malcolm!

What is ASA? Is that a name?!

I agree that somebody who likes Malcolm can't seriously also like Jaden - they are at totally opposite ends of the name spectrum! i don't like either byt the way.

You list isn't much better but I do like Cameron and Alexander, both nice and traditional but not overused with reasonable shortenings available.

My 20 year old cousin is called Malcolm. He is lovely and it suits him. Everyone was a bitConfused when his name was announced but he has grown into it. So I think it is a good name and Mal is also a cool nickname.

Jaden is beyond awful and does not have good connotations.

I actually quite like Adrian though still think of Adrian mole.

Your names are not to my taste but there is nothing really wrong with them.

I could come to like Malcolm. It's classy (and probably Scottish). Jaden is not to my taste (and nor is Kayden, Hayden, Graden) etc. Interestingly I met a woman who had 2 sons called Malcolm and Graden. I couldn't fathom how the same parents could possibly have alighted on two more disparate names.

Malcolm is much nicer than Jayden.
