It came completely out of left field and means we'd have to think again about a middle name and I'm all ready to duck at the comments but what's your opinion of Monica nn Moni?

I like it. It's not used often but everyone will have heard of it

I have a relative called Monica, I love the name. She gets called 'Mon' as a nickname, 'Monsy' if we are being silly.

If you like it just use it. It may be uncommon, but I certainly don't think there's anything strange about it.

Moni is a weird nickname though. I don't think you even need to deliberately shorten it to anything tbh. Just let it be and see what happens.

Thank you so much! I'm quite overwhelmed by the positive response.

I have a friend who chose names for her children that to my mind were horrible, but the children have turned out so lovely that my feelings about their names has also changed.

So even if other people don't like the name you have chosen, the important thing is that you both like it.

I like it and would sing Monica, Monica, have a happy hannukah to her 😁

How are you pronouncing Moni? Is is Moany or Monnee? I prefer Monnee (hope you're reading it the way I'm saying it in my head).

stiffstink · 06/09/2016 21:20

Tell us more about the middle name too!

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 06/09/2016 22:04

I think it's a great choice! It's fairly unusual, but almost everyone will recognise it and it is feminine without being frilly or cutesy.

Do you know the poem Summer with Monica by Roger McGough? It's a great name and a beautiful poem. Most of the Monicas I know are E European.

Very nice.
