Enid is awful

Nell is nice but maybe as a nickname?

I love Imogen and Eden

throwingpebbles · 02/09/2016 09:00

How about Edith if your DH likes Enid?

Nonameyet1 · 02/09/2016 09:04

I love Edith with a nn Edie but unfortunately my ex (of many years ago but we live in the same town and still have friends in common) his nan was Edith/ Edie and we used to say that would be our girl name, just think could be a tad awkward if I bumped into him or his family. But gorgeous name!

I have a Nell ,

Never met another one yet , I vaguely know someone that gave it as a middle name but that's as close as I know .

Nonameyet1 · 02/09/2016 09:14

Toofat2BtheFly, good name choice! How old is your Nell? What comments did you have about the name when she was born?

Never anything too negative , most people love it , right from birth we referred to her as Nelly which raised a few eyebrows and created several nicknames .Nelly belly , Nell's bells , furtarto but surprisingly never 'the elephant' .

She regards the Nelly furtarto song 'I'm like a bird ' to be her song .

Nelly the elephant has never been mentioned !

I still love her name, as she gets older though she is becoming more of a Nell than Nelly .

I think its a very elegant name , uncommon but not unusual ,just perfect .

Timeless ( obvs I'm a bit biased though Wink)

That's good to hear! Thanks!

Sorry , I forgot to say she is 5 now !

Sophronia · 02/09/2016 18:32

Enid is my favourite

bluechameleon · 02/09/2016 23:32

I love Imogen. I also love Nell but I think I'd have it as a nickname for Helena.

roseteapot101 · 02/09/2016 23:52

I would not call a child belle the beauty and the beast live action movie on the horizon when that finally comes out every girl will be called belle like how elsa was.It will become the most over used name.

shame as its nice, unfortunately eden and imogen are also very popular at the moment.Enid i am unsure not heard that in a wile it means life ones soul guess it could be a nice name.

Nonameyet1 · 03/09/2016 11:57

Thanks everyone, this has been so helpful. I agree with what lots of you have said about Belle, I'm not really a 'girly girl' so not sure I want to give my dd such a 'girly' name even though it's really sweet.

I think you've helped me narrow it down to Eden or Nell!

All beauty duo!

Newtoday · 03/09/2016 12:08

*beautiful

ElornaElephant · 03/09/2016 15:46

Eden - gorgeous, not too flowery a name either
Enid - I actually love this name, also think Edith which is similar is also gorgeous
Nell - so unusual! I wouldn't think of it or use it myself but it's a timeless name which would suit a LO or an adult
Imogen - I love this name, it's well known but not overly popular, think Immie for short is really sweet for a little girl also.
Belle - I think is become overused and as a result, almost a bit "chavvy"? Also can never not think Babybel...

Honeybee79 · 03/09/2016 17:09

Nell is beautiful.

Others have suggested Tess - I'm a Tess so can only agree! Not many of us around at all. Met a 5 year old Tess about a year ago and she was so excited to meet another one!

TwoLittleBlooms · 03/09/2016 17:16

Enid and Nell - I love both of these - probably Enid more so.

Enid,
Nell,
Imogen,
Belle,
Eden (Actually not keen on this).

DelphiniumBlue · 03/09/2016 17:21

Nell, which I thought was a nickname for Eleanor.

SirChenjin · 03/09/2016 17:27

Imogen or Nell

JasperDamerel · 03/09/2016 17:33

Enid: lovely and currently unusual. And in The Worst Witch books.

Nell. Very lovely, but I prefer it it as a shortening rather than as the full name.

Imogen: pretty but a bit dull. It's a Jessica/Olivia/Amelia sort of name.

Belle. I prefer it as a shortening. It's potentially awkward if she ever feels unhappy with her appearance. And it's a Disney heroine, which I suppose might be good as well as bad.

Eden. I'm not keen. It sounds a bit American soap character.

ChubbyMummy12 · 03/09/2016 17:33

Enid reminds me of the walking deadGrin do like the name though!
Belle is very pretty,
Love Eden & Imogen :)

Glassyeyed · 03/09/2016 17:35

Lovely names, although Belle is a bit Disney for my liking!

I really like Nell - perhaps as a nickname of Helen or Helena?

rainbowstardrops · 03/09/2016 22:37

Depending on your surname, I think that Eden Nell sounds lovely

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 03/09/2016 23:11

Eden Nell sounds like Bleedin' 'ell, to me

ClockMakerSue · 03/09/2016 23:26

Enid is my favourite by far. Also like Edith and Edie but can understand your reasons for not wanting them.

Nell is lovely.

Imogen is a bit boring compared to your others.
