For Eddison could you use Ted a nickname? Looking for alternatives to Edward as I have two step children with nice names, but not so much traditional.

Yes, you could.
How about Edwin or Edmund.

Edmund... I'll add this to the mix. Thanks!

I prefer it spelt Edison! Yes, you could use Ted Smile

Cherryskypie · 01/09/2016 16:07

Are you really trying to match your StepDCs names? That's a little bonkers but incredibly nice?

teach2922 · 01/09/2016 17:25

Not really no, it's just part of my thought process.

I much prefer this spelling!!! Thanks Stripes123

I think Edmund is great.

I really do not wish to sound rude, and obviously it's your baby, your choice of name and spelling, but the trouble with 'Eddison' with 2 x D is that it looks a bit 'yooneek'. The world-famous inventor Thomas Edison spelled his name with one D, and so that spelling is by far and away the best known, especially in America and within its wider sphere of influence. www.thomasedison.org/index.php/education/inventions/

I have an Edison who goes by Ned. He probably would have been Ted if I hadn't have been an ex teacher and known one! I get a lot of positive comments about his name and its shortened version Smile

teach2922 · 01/09/2016 17:56

I just said that to stripes123, I much perfer it with one d, as opposed to two. I'm not one for being unique.
I've never thought of ned for a shortened version of Edison. I think I've found our winner.

Awesome!

florascotianew · 01/09/2016 18:26

Very sorry, teach cross-posted.
I agree that Ned is a very good name.
All the best...

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/09/2016 11:09

Yes, Ned is great !

AnyTheWiser · 02/09/2016 11:15

I know you've said you like this made up spelling, but it is one 'd'.
Edison.
What about Addison
Axel
Franklin
Griffin
Linus

I do like the name Edison.

Stripes123 · 02/09/2016 11:21

No, the OP said they preferred Edison.

EssentialHummus · 02/09/2016 11:27

I like it with one 'd'. Also a fan of Edwin. Edmund makes me think of Blackadder (though I imagine someone else would've mentioned that while i was typing!)

AnyTheWiser · 02/09/2016 11:40

Ah, I read her message the other way, that she was rebuffing your suggestion. I see later post that means she was accepting it!
