Clemency makes me think of Clem from the Chalet School books. I think the death row connection (which I have to say I'd never heard of) will hardly be a big deal in the UK, if that's where you are.

I know of a fairly senior barrister with the name Clemency. Suited her nicely.

Clemency is in the US for prisoners. I have never heard it used here in the UK in my profession.

Here we call it mitigating factors. So not an issue really.

But more people watch American TV shows than they read Chalet School books.

The Death Row connection that I mentioned is through American TV shows and movies. (Trying to prove someone on Death Row shouldn't be executed as a plot line)

I think Clemency is lovely. Sweet and pretty in a sort of grown-up way. I actually really like Clem as a nickname too, but most seem to hate it.

Clemency feels a lot more sophsticated and less trendy than Clementine to me.

What do you think of Cicely/Cecily? I especially love the former.

I love Clemency, I wouldn't do the Death Row association at all. I like Clementine also , but only with the teen ending, not tine.

I like Clemency... REALLY like it. But for reasons stated above would you consider Clemence? It's a "normal" French name (see: Clémence Poèsy) but to Anglicise remove the accent?

I can't understand how anybody likes any of the 3 names. Horrid.

I cant understand why anyone likes most of the popular names out there etc. Everyone has different tastes.
