In reference to this thread, here are the boys choices.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2716166-compromise-baby-girl-names

DH and I don't really agree on baby name styles.

My boys names:
Reuben
Elliot
Theo
Leo
Ted (Edward)
Arthur

His boys names:
Ethan
Baxter
Harrison
Zack
Aaron
Toby

Names we both don't mind:
Ashton
Jacob
I would call Harrison Harry, but he wasn't keen on Harry

Surname is quite rare, but doesn't sound it, sounds quite run of the mill English. Starts with R. I'm also keen to have my maiden name as a second middle name, begins with G, and is short and Irish.

Thanks!

I'm more of a traditional boys name person.... But please knowing where you live don't use Ashton.... Ashton Gate, Ashton Court, Long Ashton, it would be mean.

Sophronia · 26/08/2016 03:38

Seth?

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 26/08/2016 04:11

Jasper
Felix
Everett
Calvin
Clark
Gideon
Curtis
Philip
Gus
Harrison
Stanley
Martin

Seth was on my list but vetoed

Ooh, I like Gus. But then there's a similar syllable in our surname so it might sound like we're rhyming

jo Ashton is off the table, I mentioned further up that I have designs on moving to Long Ashton in a few years so that would be really unfair

I'm surprised you can't agree, as I think your name lists are very similar in style! I'd be surprised to find an Arthur with brother Baxter, but we do know, f'instance, an Ethan and Elliott combo, and a Theo and Toby, and a Jacob and Aaron.

Come to think of it, at least two of the above have a third sib called Ben. Go for Ben.

I'm much more your taste than your husbands! I dislike Ashton though. I like the unusual biblical name Joash as my preferred ash name. And if you feel Noah is too religious I'd be wary of Jonah. Jonas might be a better option. I do like Toby from his list though, and Zack (though I'd make it Zachary nn Zach).

Ethan and Zachary both sound nice.

MikeUniformMike · 15/04/2020 21:45

Hannah or Harriet
Harrison will get shortened - Harry is better.
Jacob
