Fast becoming one of my favourites. Whats your thoughts, do you think it will date?

SuburbanRhonda · 20/08/2016 21:13

Hard to say if it will date. Where did you get the name from, out of interest?

LoraLoves · 20/08/2016 21:16

Mallory Towers anybody?

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 20/08/2016 21:18

Male or female? I'd remove the e, either way, you don't need it.

EnquiringMingeWantsToKnow · 20/08/2016 21:22

Never seen it spelled with the extra E.

Zadocthepriest · 20/08/2016 21:22

I knew a Mallory once (she will be in her 60s now. She had a sister called Richenda!)

Good name, different, easy to pronounce, hopefully the only one on the school which is good in my book.

villainousbroodmare · 20/08/2016 21:23

Agree on removing the e.
I don't think it's popular enough to date, which is not a bad thing.
It doesn't strike me as particularly masculine or feminine.

fluentinsarcasm · 20/08/2016 21:24

Female.

Saw it on a baby name finder site. I'm not worried about the Towers connection. Every name holds some sort of connotation.

I like it. Sounds like a good solid name for a boy or girl.

LunaLoveg00d · 20/08/2016 21:25

Mallory Towers!

Also sounds VERY American. reminds me of a character in the 1980s sitcom Family Ties.

PurpleDaisies · 20/08/2016 21:26

The spelling looks wrong to me.

If it were spelled Mallory I would think it was a nice sensible name without loving or hating it.

Bellainey · 20/08/2016 21:26

I would think you were a fan of The West Wing. This is a good thing.

user1471501988 · 20/08/2016 21:27

It was the name of the girl in the film "Natural Born Killers", just saying, leaves the room quickly ...

ClockMakerSue · 20/08/2016 21:28

I know not all names get shortened but I'm not keen on 'Mal'. Aside from that I like it.

I don't think it will date particularly and I prefer the spelling without the e.

ClockMakerSue · 20/08/2016 21:29

I loved Malory Towers...think this may be why I like it!

albertcampionscat · 20/08/2016 21:30

Lose the e. Otherwise, good.

Veterinari · 20/08/2016 21:36

Lose the e and the extra l
Malory

idontlikealdi · 20/08/2016 21:38

Mallory is good, get ride of the e.

Acornantics · 20/08/2016 21:38

I love it, it does remind me of Mallory Towers, which I adored as a kid in the 80s, but it's a pretty name. I also love Romilly. I love a double 'l' in a name, don't know why tho...

GinIsIn · 20/08/2016 21:41

I don't think it's spelt with an e. Also, I hate to say it but the name means "great sadness and unhappiness".

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 20/08/2016 21:42

LOVE it!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 20/08/2016 21:47

I'd think of the musical, City of Angels - unlikely to be a major association though!

Agree that I'd lose the 'e'.

fluentinsarcasm · 20/08/2016 21:47

It means Army counsellor on the site where I saw it Fenella.

As did most of the names starting with Mal, Mall.

OP posts:
GinIsIn · 20/08/2016 21:50

I'm not sure what site you were on, but I don't think it was a very good l e!

Mal is French for bad. Malheureux means unhappiness. According to google:

"Mallory".

Spelt like that, lovely.

Spelt the way in the title - no. No one will ever get it right and it looks very wrong.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 20/08/2016 21:51

Mallory Towers and Mallory from the babysitters club! I always think it means sadness or Ill? Could be wrong though. It's nice but not with the 'e'
