Lark?

I met a teen at the hairdressers by this name. It's really grown on me, I love nature names but struggle to convince dh...!

He likes it however so it's a contender. We had decided on Tabitha but I've really gone off it now so I'm pleased to find another option.

I love nature names too but beware that many people when they hear 'lark' associate it not with the bird but with mucking about.

I think of "lark around" as well.

Also... quite aside from it having barely any precedent as a name, it's kind of a strange sounding name, don't you think? Kind of short and harsh, when you say it out loud a few times.

I don't like Lark.

What about Wren or Linnet if you are liking bird names?

Mmm, I'm not sure about it. I think it's too wacky for me. However, I'm a firm believer that you should choose whatever name you like. Its the type of name that you would get used to quickly.

In Welsh, Llinos means linnet. I do like Tabitha though.

I know a female Larkin. I think it's OK but any names with an 'r' in like that are potentially problematic depending on the accent!

Robin is as far as I would go with bird names

I like it. I wanted to name my second child who came early and quickly Lark. But it was my husband's turn to choose. So we stuck with his choice. ...but she is still my morning Lark!

I considered Wren and like it but I can't quite get away from the Navy Wrens association.

I like the bird/larking around connotations, makes it sound fun and light and happy.

Linnet makes me think of bird seed, why's that? Not keen on Larkin. I like lana/Lara but dh doesn't so I guess that sound still speaks to me, the long A sound.

You could have a fairly traditional middle name, three or four syllable. E.g. Lark Elizabeth Smith.
