Ian?

Not pregnant but my DD (6) told me that if she has a son (a long time into the future I hope) she is going to call him Ian. What do you think? Hopelessly outdated or due for a revival?

DD3 age 12 wants Geofrey or Godfrey if she has a boy.. So I suspect that is what our grandchildren will be named

Just read that Ian is ones of the names predicted to go 'Extinct'. Only 21 babies have been named it this year.

My brother's an Ian, he gets E, or Ewock. He's quite nerdy, i've always thought he suited his name.

God no. It's in the realms of Colin, Kevin or Barry.

It won't go extinct in Scotland - it was used 557 times in 2013 and 571 times in 2014, either as a first or middle name.

I LOVE Colin as a name, made even better by all the Colin's I have known have been utterly lovely men. DH was a firm no though.. I think Kevin will have a revival at some point. Unsure about Barry.

I know two lovely Ians but I really dislike the name, it just sounds like a noise. Sorry. Much nicer names out there.
